24.01.2022 This story was done late last year. Of late we are having so many pets coming into us who have had run in with snakes. Unfortunately another 2 babies yesterday. One was confirmed as an eastern brown. I was told that Phenyl which can be purchased at Bunnings if you spray all areas is a great repellent to keeping them away as snakes taste and smell with the tongues. More recently I had a friend send me this recipe from Emu Ridge.... It is a homemade snake deterrent om the form of a native Australian oil blend. Simply mix 20ml of Eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender and sandalwood oils with 120 clove oil, 400ml methylated spirits and 420ml of water for a reportedly effective solution to trespassing snakes. This recipe is touted as a a more effective alternative to phenyl based liquid repellers. According to Emu Ridge, snakes use their tongue to smell through a function called the vomeronasal system which allows snakes to sense tiny particles on the roof of their mouth. In this way, the snake detects things like dirt, plants other animals and suspicious smelling concoctions like the Eucalyptus repeller. Emu ridge advise spraying a generous dose of the mixture along the boundaries of your property, outdoor shed, plants and external doors. This recipe comes from a reptile specialist and is safe to use around pets and other wildlife. Please be vigilant my dogs are only allowed outside and being supervised. Kelly x

18.01.2022 Over the coming months we are going through a rebrand of our little business making it more softer and welcoming for our families. New uniforms all in the softer colours. Darren's and my shirts now carry Bella's paw print who we just lost 3 weeks ago. We have a brand new website about to drop which will be very user friendly for iPad's and phones and much softer in colours. This site will have a vet login and family log in as some families are so over come to speak on the ph...one. The cars will also be rebranded in much softer friendlier tones. The feedback we are getting from our vets has been astonishing with our new look. Below are just a few photos of the changes going on and we will drop more photo's as we take them. We have incredible staff with Isabella now back, the beautiful Tatty and Simon. Let me tell you about Simon he is kind, loving and caring and says a little prayer for each and everyone of your fur babies as he is the last link to all the fur kids who come to us. He is honoured each and everyday to do what he does. See more

17.01.2022 This afternoon at 4.02pm our own beautiful Bella was given her wings. Bella has brought so much love, joy and happiness into our lives as a family. Bell Bell was top dog bailing Dad up every night for the last 12 years as he walked in the door every day/night from work. Yes she was the best door bell any family could want. Sadly in a heart beat she was in liver failure showing no indication of a mass in her liver that had ruptured. Tonight we have one more angel looking down at us. Bella thank you for choosing us to be your pet parents. You went to the rainbow bridge knowing how loved you were so loved. Sweet dreams our Princess and a big thanks to Tatty and Dr Amanda.

01.01.2022 BEWARE OF HEATSTROKE As it rapidly heats up across Bundaberg, please keep an extra close eye on your furry friends as we are starting to see cases of sever...e heatstroke in our hospital. This beautiful boy was rushed in last week after his family found him unresponsive, suffering from heatstroke! Luckily for their quick actions and for our teams emergency response, we were able to stabilise him and bring his temperature down enough for him to regain consciousness and avoid internal damage and cardiac arrest. He was then admitted to hospital where he was put on fluids and remained for several days, until he was finally well enough to return home to his loving family! Signs to look out for in your pets that may indicate heatstroke include: Excessive Panting Drooling Struggling to stand/collapsing Vomiting Glazed eyes Tongue/gums turn bright red or blue In extreme cases, seizures Dogs only have a few sweat glands in their paws, so unlike humans they struggle to regulate their temperature and usually do so by panting, but sometimes this is not enough! Heatstroke is a serious condition that can lead to rapid organ failure and cardiac arrest. Keep your pets cool, make sure they have access to shade and plenty of water, never leave them in the car, consider getting them clipped in the warmer months and be especially mindful if your pet is elderly, has a thick coat or is a brachycephalic breed. If you are concerned your pet may be suffering from heatstroke, please bring them into our hospital immediately, as this condition is a medical emergency.
