15.01.2022 An acre of wilderness for $5? Forever Wild has been accepted to the Global Giving platform, and now we are looking to become a full partner! This will give us access to corporate networks and will create an amazing opportunity for us worldwide. We have 1 month to raise $5000 for full partnership! The campaign opens on December 1st. Please consider donating once we launch. The price of a cup of coffee will buy 1 acre of pristine wilderness and protect it forever.... http://goto.gg/49965
15.01.2022 In 2018, due to dramatically increasing running costs and insurances, Forever Wild completely restructured the revenues on the Mareeba Tropical Wetlands. Our plan is to ensure it remains economically sustainable and a vibrant part of the Mareeba Community. In 2019 / 20 we formed agreements with 3 separate tour operators to support their nature-based tours, a grazing family and several local community groups who wanted to use the reserve. We also invested over $55,000 to upgrade the infrastructure, particularly pumps, electrics and tracks. In 2021 the reserve will be available for weddings, events and functions. In 2022 we aim to see even wider use, and to ensure the Reserve keeps generating jobs and money to our local economy.

03.01.2022 What is it worth? 27 years ago the Queensland Government, the Mareeba community and Forever Wild (then called the Mareeba Wetland Foundation) created an Australian first - a joint initiative for community, nature and the local economy. Created with $7.2m of community donations, time and public funds it was called the Mareeba Wetlands. In turn it has generated millions of dollars for the community, and will do so for generations to come. It is home to one quarter of Australia's bird species and millions of aquatic animals, and provides extraordinary opportunities to the Traditional Owners. The question is: what is it worth....? That question will need to be publicly answered by the Queensland Government as they decide if they should permanently remove the paltry 600ML of water the reserve needs every year - so they can sell that water.
