20.01.2022 @vercumcision @tristanvercoeracing: I approached Tom of Fox Fitness and Performance early this year to help achieve a specific goal as well as develop key aspects of my training and knowledge of nutrition. I am glad to say that I could not have made a better choice when selecting a trainer, as we hit our target, and I have learnt a lot along the way. My initial target was weight orientated due to the nature of the activity that I compete in. Light is best in racing, and I did... not know how to achieve this result in a healthy and sustainable fashion. Tom took into consideration my current training habits, food consumption and event schedule to produce a suitable diet and program. The most obvious benefit of Tom’s program and diet was that I was losing weight whilst maintaining energy levels. There wasn’t a blanket approach for each day as meals were tailored around events and energy consumption/fatigue. As the year has progressed, I have faced several hurdles which Tom helped me overcome. The most recent and challenging had been continuing to train with a fractured wrist. Tom has encapsulated several training styles and used considerable creativity to tailor a workable solution to a significant hurdle. Communication is key to a successful relationship, and Tom has ensured to keep in touch with me throughout the year with regular check-ins. He is a very friendly and likeable character, who is quick to provide positive feedback when earned and delivers constructive feedback and corrections clearly when needed. You are also guaranteed to have Tom’s undivided attention whilst working with him, unlike other trainers I have experienced/witnessed in the past. Whether you are an athlete, new to the gym, seeking conditioning or anyone else for that matter, I could not recommend Fox Fitness and Performance highly enough. Lil Pippy jumped on the ICN stage today and I couldn’t be more proud of her and the competitive package she brought. She took home: 3x 2nd Places 1x 4th Place 1x 5th Place Pip was in the unfortunate situation of prepping for Season A this year and having her show cancelled - but the lil trooper pushed through to Season B. The shape on this girl is insane, no photo could ever do her justice. And aside from that Pip has been working 50+ hour weeks and been fitting workouts in running on a very less than ideal amount of sleep. She did everything I asked of her, never complained and was the most coachable client I could have asked for. Being my first ever comp prep client, Pip took a massive chance on me and I couldn’t be more thankful for it. Thank you so much for trusting me and for making this first experience easy and so much fun. Also massive thank you to @fox.f1tness - no one else knows or appreciates the behind the scenes work that you put in to help me bring Pip to stage, but I do, this wouldn’t have happened without you. 11.01.2022 Congratulations to @ian_stuck for completing his first-ever 50km ultra-marathon placing 9th of 359 in a time of 5:13:13. When Ian and I first started talking about nutrition race strategy, Ian was using almond butter, bananas, honey, wraps and some carbohydrate gels, delivering 50g of carbohydrates per hour. One of the issues is with this strategy of using fruit, wraps and almond butter, digestion becomes slow, causing slower delivery of carbohydrates and also causing some g...astrointestinal issues due to the high fat and fibre nature of the chosen foods. After some back and forth Ian and I were able to increase his carbohydrate intake up to 90g per hour (almost double) whilst not disrupting the gastrointestinal system, by taking out the fat and fibre foods. This allowed Ian to keep a high level of performance and absolutely smash out his first race. When it comes to performance, carbohydrates are king I would like to thank Ian for his willingness to change his racing strategy and looking forward to dialling this in further! 11.01.2022 @michaelthomas_pt is heading into his 2nd dieting phase with more muscle and less body fat. Well done mate! Dieting should never last forever. If you have a big goal, break it up into phases. Once you’ve completed a 1 dieting phase, look to maintain for a minimum 50% of the time spent dieting, driving kcals up and trying to gain lean body mass. This means if you diet for 12 weeks you should aim to be at maintenance kcals for 6 weeks as the minimum. ...
