24.01.2022 Great to see the return of live music festivals back to the Gold Coast with the announcement of one for May 2021, this week. That announcement could have been bettered had Gold Coast Major Events and the GC Music Action Plan Committee found a way of ensuring at least one local act on the bill for every touring festival that comes through the GC. These festivals are a great way to showcase local talent and give bands access to broader audience through pre and post gig marketing, reviews and imagery. Here’s hoping the committee are able to impliement something for future events that capatilises on the opportunity these events offer when in our back yard.

19.01.2022 Missed this afternoons sunset by a few minutes. I'd have loved to capture more of those deep reddish pinks out to the west. Still pretty though

16.01.2022 Went down The Spit today to see what the recent rains had done to the beach. Lots of water moving about over at Sth Straddie. Rains good but it's nice to have the sun back

15.01.2022 Well said Luke McGregor and Charlie Pickering on tonight’s episode of The Weekly: Yes it can be said that we can live without the arts but the arts gives us a reason to live. Think about that for a while everyone.

14.01.2022 Covid safe Sunday vibes with BULLHORN down at HOTA, Home of the Arts. Queensland....the only place to do winter

14.01.2022 Here's a little video accompaniment to my write up and images (scroll on down if you've not yet seen those) of last nights The Chats gig down at Vinnies Dive.

14.01.2022 Continuing with my life theme of walking blindly where I never expected to, I've decided to make a short film. Plot, prologue and scenes roughed out. Colaborating and storyboarding with the director begins on Thur. This should be interesting

14.01.2022 Alright! Tuesday night home grown punk. What a treat! Opening their set saying "So good to be back Vinnies Dive, the Goldie's.....No Queensland's, best live music venue!", there was much love for Sunny Coast lads The Chats when they hit the stage. It was the first hit out for the band in their new guise with Josh Hardy now out front on guitar. Perve Endings kicked the night off. My first taste of this 4 piece out of Brisbane and my only disappointment was that I missed the fi...Continue reading

13.01.2022 In other news...... I'm shooting live music again tonight. Yeefreakingha!!!...

13.01.2022 Photography to the rescue. A busy week last week both professionally and personally. Capped off with my wife being hospitalised resulting from some dental work. Feeling washed out mentally and physically, yesterday I sat for a couple of hours in the shed and tinkered with my bike (Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is real and very centring). Feeling better but still a little restless, I then sat down to review and edit my photos from the "dry day" follow up photowa...lk in the Botanic Gardens, a week or so ago. By the time I had finished looking back over all the beautiful scenery I captured, I was in a very calm and rested place. That centring and calmness was what drew me to photography some 5yrs ago and its nice that even having made it my job, it's still able to do this for me. The GC Botanic Gardens is a beutifly tranquil part of the coast. I plan to go back and spend an entire day (Sunrise to Sunset) shooting the gardens across the different light of day. If you've been before, go again. If you've not, go twice. I'd love to hear which is your favourite image(s) and what it is that appeals to you most. Have a centred week :-) Pete...

09.01.2022 This is an awesome idea! Come on Gold Coast musicians. Get behind this and represent

08.01.2022 Sticking to my recently revisited mantra of heading out to take photos and reconnect with what photography is for me, I decided to loiter with digital intent down at HOTA, home of the arts last night. And to top it off, while doing post production I was serenaded by the fabulous HOTA Chior as they rehearsed only meters away I Can’t wait until I’m able to while away countless hours inside those vibrant exterior walls.... #inspirationalspaces #homeofthearts #shootingformysoul #creativelifehappylife #goldcoastphotography #goldcoastphotographer #destinationgoldcoast #wearegoldcoast #goldcoastlife #visitgoldcoast #discoverqueensland #cityofgoldcoast #goldcoastgallery #igersgoldcoast #photographypeterwheeler #tap4snaps #tap4snaps_surf #eatshooteditsleeprepeat

05.01.2022 Spontaneous 5am art. So I wake up at 5 this morning, see the silhouette of my head reflecting on the open door of my room and think "That looks cool". 10min later and a bit of creative licence in post, I'd managed to throw my own head down the hallway.... I'm pretty sure i'm not all there. What do you think? (about the art that is. My wacky head space is a given)

03.01.2022 How good was last week! Started out with home grown punk on Tue night and on Fri night I shot a debut gig and a last gig (well last of 2020), in two different venues! Feeling a little like old times The debut gig was for my mate Terry Tappa Teece and his new outfit The Panasonics down at Mo's Desert Clubhouse as part of their Tradies Christmas gig. Debut out the way, The Panasonics are already well sort after, playing Rock v Metal alongside good mates Tokyo Beef and others d...own at Vinnies Dive Sat 18 Dec and back to Moe's on Fri 8 Jan 2021 as support for Sabrina Lawrie's Dreamstate single launch. So plenty of opportunity to get out and see these guys doing their thang. The last was for buddies and all round good guys, VERUM across the road at the newly remodelled (like that day) Burleigh Bazaar. Verum smashed out their set with all the usual energy and passion that they bring to every single show they play. I've been getting out to see these guys for over a year now and considering what a shit year it's been for music, it's freaking amazing how refined this band has become since I first saw them. The sign of a great gig is when you can tell the band is having a good time. Well that's every time for these guys and that vibe just spills out into the rest of the room. The boys tell me they have big plans for 2021, so make an effort to get out and see some of their shows. You won't be disappointed. It was a bit hectic spreading myself across the 2 venues and sadly the set times clashed meaning I missed getting to see Annoying Neighbours with newly signed Tom Hayes of We All Drive and AYONS. Been a LOOOOONG time since I got to see / shoot 3 gigs in the same week. Felt very fuggin nice and long may it continue Here's some pics of Verum and The Panasonics gigs from Fri night. As always, I'm happy for these images to be shared for non commercial use, unaltered and with credit and tag. Photography is my living, not a hobby. If you see something you like, would like images for commercial use or would like me to shoot your next show / promo, contact me directly and we can work something out.

02.01.2022 Live music fuck yeah! Good to see you funksters back on stage Electrik Lemonade

02.01.2022 Got the treadlies out today and went for a cruise into the Coombabah Lakelands. I was in 2 minds whether or not to take my camera. So very glad I chose to. I would have been the angriest bloke in the Lakelands today if I didn't have my camera when these Koala's appeared. All up we rode 20k's door to door over around 4hrs. All at a leisurely pace, stopping for photos and a snack. If you haven't been into the Lakelands, you need to go. It's a tranquil place where nature exists... as it's always done. Very happy that this conservation area exists so close to home and that it welcomes respectful visitation. Let me know which one you like and feel free to offer suggestions on what might have worked better or other places like this that I need visit with my camera. Have a happy week :-) Pete... #coombabahlakelands #lakelands #conservation #kangaroos #koalas #goldcoast #goldcoastphotographer #goldcoastphotography #wearegoldcoast #destinationgoldcoast #visitgoldcoast #visitqueensland

02.01.2022 Got a friend who’s moving home and no longer needs this old Ashton Bass Amp. She’s only looking for $75 for it. Any aspiring Bass players or electronic drum kit owners needing a spare amp?

01.01.2022 Out photo walking with my student again today. Seemed fitting that we stop under the shade of the trees at the Runaway Bay Centotaph to enjoy a sandwich and reflect on all the wartime sacrifice made by the brave men and women who died or lost loved ones defending our freedoms. - - Lest We Forget -... - #lestweforget #grateful #forloveofcountry #centotaph #runawaybay #goldcoastphotography #goldcoastphotographer #destinationgoldcoast #wearegoldcoast #goldcoastlife #visitgoldcoast #discoverqueensland #cityofgoldcoast #goldcoastgallery #igersgoldcoast #photographypeterwheeler #tap4snaps #tap4snaps_surf #eatshooteditsleeprepeat See more
