24.01.2022 Do you get exhausted planning out your instagram? Does it make your head explode wondering how on earth people get their instagrams looking gorgeous with helpful content while you are trying to figure out what to post next? Are you climbing back into bed just at the thought of posting? Instagram isn't particularly user friendly when it comes to content writing especially when you are trying to do things on the go.... Read below for my 2 top tips when it come to writing my captions for instagram and how I utilise my posts for Facebook. 1. Utilise your Notes app on your phone. I love Notes on iPhone. I can use spaces AND emojis and easily copy and paste to instagram. The only trouble I encounter here is there is no predictive text when it comes to hashtags. Here I can enter my hashtags at the end of the post in instagram easily enough. 2. If you want to plan out your instagram and can spare some time in set up, I really recommend the Plann That app. Sparing time for clients is one thing but actually putting my practises to good use for myself has been something I have neglected until now. Using Plann allows me to see my vision come to life before my very eyes and way before you guys get to see it! Plann That also allows you to set hashtag groups, gives you a word and hashtag count and also gives you fantastic insights into what's working. So how do I get all that hard work to transfer to facebook? Well you can automatically upload to facebook so all your posts are exactly the same OR you can copy and paste and use facebook to expand upon your ideas creating a more of blog style option for your followers without setting up a separate blog Winning! 24.01.2022 It's Fri- YAY! Favourite day of the week. We have a cemented family tradition here that centres around Woodfire pizzas and movies. The pizzas get made (lovingly by hand) and handed to dad who cooks them to perfection! We then all sit on the rug, snuggled up watching movies together. The kids absolutely love it and every night it happens make us look at each other with such pride and happiness. It does get a bit messy, it gets a bit uncomfortable, sometimes there ar...e even a few upsets but we wouldn't change it for the world... Except this week, this week pizza has to happen Saturday! 23.01.2022 Well if there was a post that was overdue it is surely this one and I don't feel the slightest bit guilty! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! A severe lack of posts in the lead up to Christmas meant only one thing... I was BUSY! Since November, we have had a constant stream of guests (and still have!) in the house. From Matts parents, to my family, to friends. The house has been jammed and it has been so much fun! I started to feel a little guilty in November because ...I felt like I wasn't doing enough R+F wise. My posts were few and far between, I wasn't doing "all the things" that I knew I needed to grow my business but I was so busy with living I felt I had no time (or maybe it was just brain space- after all I managed a few Netflix binges). I was surrounded by family, I was working, I was trying to get all my Christmas shopping done and things were beyond hectic, I was exhausted! Trying to get in some selfies and showcase products and write posts was so far down on my priority list that the guilts started to set in hard. Guilt is a feeling though and it was my choice how I dealt with it. I sat down and ticked some mental boxes... No one was hounding me to reach any goals, no one was even noticing because there is never any pressure or expectation except for my own! So my expectations for the Christmas period were lowered for my own purposes and because of this, I got to enjoy all of these moments to their fullest. You see my weeks have been filled with writing content for clients and designing flyers and artwork centred around International Women’s Day and it has lead to a million of my own questions. You see for me, the topic is so huge it can’t be covered in the mere 2000 characters Instagram allows me. Nor can it cover my 42 years of experience as a woman. ... The past 2 weeks have brought old memories to life I would much rather forget and the only conclusion I could come to was this... Even with the use of just one hashtag, you can increase engagement by almost 13%! Using hashtags is a great way for your target client to find you but its important to understand your target audience before you start plucking words from the sky.... Here are a few tips that I use for my clients and ones you may actually be surprised about! Use up to 30 hashtags! The more hashtags you use the more chance you have of reaching someone who is in need of your services. There are some theories around how many hashtags are the most effective, however, unless you have a zillion followers, using as many as you can can greatly improve your reach! Minimise your use of huge hashtags with millions of posts. Using such big hashtags limits your chance of being seen. With millions of people using them, your post is bound to go up and head to the bottom of the pile in minutes! Use your own branded hashtag. This is especially useful if your handle isn't spelt as normal. Research your hashtags and niche down to ensure you maximise your reach. And lastly! Put your hashtags in the bottom of your caption!! So many people think that by putting them in the comments it makes the caption cleaner. The truth is that yes, the hashtags will still work but you won't be able to access any analytics to see what is and what isn't working. 11.01.2022 The current climate has challenged many of us and as someone who works independently from home, adding in homeschooling and financial uncertainty has been interesting to say the least This past week has brought to life some of my little families brightestmoments. 10.01.2022 Relate much? I think this is one of the crazy things about little people that perplex me the most! Who am I kidding? I am stumped on a daily basis! These little terrors refuse to eat food that 10 seconds ago they loved! And then after screaming about a lack of appetite have the audacity to say I'm hungry and want something not on the menu!... Brave is an understatement! I still admire them though. It takes guts to go after what you want right? As adults we can make decisions around food pretty easily but what about when it comes to other things? As an adult being flippant in our decision making can be seen as flakey or unreliable. But what if it's just trying to work the steps to our final destination? It's a rare day that someone can make choices and for each of them to perfectly work out as planned. Sometimes we have to make a few mistakes along the way to finally figure it all out. I would say that I have the best job I could have ever imagined right now and yet when I was a kid it was a job that wasn't even "invented." It wasn't even something I actively thought about doing even at the beginning of the year, and yet, through a series of steps, I have found something that ticks all my boxes and compliments my other work. I totally missed the self discipline gene when it was being handed out. Practise! Practise! Set yourself a goal and tick it off your list every day. Be positive! If you didn't manage to tick the box (or maybe you ate too many donuts) don't stress! Just start again! Write your goals down and be accountable! It's important to write your goals down so you know what you are trying to achieve. If you don't achieve your goals, ask yourself "Did I really do everything in my power to make it happen?" If you didn't do everything in your power, ask yourself why? Was it all out of your control or were you flat out lazy? Understanding where you went wrong can help you on the path to success! Set realistic goals Whether its health or business, we have to set realistic goals, especially short term. Ask yourself what you are truly capable of and willing to do in order to reach your goals and plan from there. Setting realistic expectations eliminates the potential mindset of "its all way too hard" and instead let's us see that anything is truly possible! The truth is, many of us aren't in that happy place and can get stuck in a cycle of blaming the universe or others for the unfairness of life. But perhaps we are exactly where we are meant to be? Some people believe that every part of the journey is there to teach us something and that it is OUR choice how we choose to react, learn and ...change with that knowledge I know what it's like to be stressed; to be overwhelmed; to have chaos and uncertainty and I also know I can handle it in a multitude of ways (some better than others) Even just recently I was in a whirl wind of pain watching indiscriminate bombs go off around me wondering what on earth was going to happen next but I didn't sit and do nothing (as much as I might have wanted to! ). Through this time I was reminded of the Invictus Poem and the poignant and powerful words written by #willianernesthenley "It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." After reading these words over and over again, I looked up and felt calm because I REMEMBERED that I AM the master of my fate! I am steering this ship on the seas of my own life and you better believe I am the captain of my own soul! When we have the ability to look within and accept our own foibles, we can challenge what's happening around us, learn and dust ourselves off to move on to better things. And you know what? I know you can do the same So take a moment and take a big breath. Ask yourself some hard questions and be ready to hear the answers. 04.01.2022 Catholic guilt hitting me hard this morning I keep thinking of the real meaning of Easter and how to teach my kids they have the ability to be reborn. I asked Harry what Easter meant to him and he said well the Easter bunny comes and drops eggs for us hmm bit of work to do... My spirituality is vastly different today. I don’t go to church anymore but that doesn’t mean I forget my Catholic roots; and the message of Easter is a message that I do in fact want my children to consider. Because knowing that you can be reborn is so important when it comes to building resilience. Life can be challenging but it is important to remember that if we live bravely, our life will become a million deaths and rebirths. These rebirths have the ability to open our eyes to be stronger, better, kinder, more compassionate and empathic. These rebirths can give us courage to live the life we are truly meant for, and they can give us the opportunity to be grateful for the life we live right now. 04.01.2022 I often get asked how I ended up as a VA and honestly most days I scratch my head! I am a born multitasker. Having kids was something I always wanted and staying at home was a dream. ... Reality of course set in and the dream was something we couldn't really contemplate. When you have a sick baby though, working isn't really an option because there really isn't much you can do when you are 24/7 holed up in #GCUH paediatrics Jack would have been about 6 months when we really needed me to go back to work. The medical bills were out of control and I was open to anything to help ends meet... Well kinda anything Enter R+F and things started to turn around. Not only did my R+F business give me the opportunity to work from home/hospital or anywhere I needed, it also gave me a much needed confidence boost and before I knew it, other offers of flexible work were coming in and I was living my dream. Being at home with my boys, home cooked meals, happy kids, content (ish) husband and a fulfilled mum (albeit maybe a little cray cray) meant it worked a treat! (Mind you don't let anyway tell you working fro home is a breeze!) On top of all of that, it turned out to the be the perfect companion to R+F. Both flexible and convenient to both me and my family but it was also suiting my clients of both businesses. I was readily available to be contacted. I could drop everything to get the work done and I could also be close for kindy drop offs and pick ups/ sick days and best of all, when Matt travels for work. It truly has been one of those "as luck would have it" moments. My side hustles and Plan B's have truly turned into my Plan As.
