22.01.2022 *******CONTEST CLOSED******* GOOOOD MORNING LAPIDARY LOVERS! It’s time! It’s here! The great day has arrived:... LAPIDARY CHALLENGES are returning to the Australian Lapidary Group! We love lapidary, so what better way to get the challenge ball rolling again with HEARTS? The rules are easy and we encourage creativity to whatever degree you wish to implement! Contest runs from 10am Thursday 11/3/21 to 10am Thursday 1/4/21 we have a nice flexible three week window right there! The prize is a $100 voucher for CRYSTAL WORLD! (This voucher applies only to RETAIL prices, not discounted prices) 1: The cut stone must be a HEART shape. It can be a traditional (flat backed) cabochon or a double sided cabochon if you want to push your limits a bit further. 2: The stone you cut must be a NEW cabochon, please do not submit a previously cut stone as your entry. 3: You may enter as many pieces as you wish providing they match the guidelines. 4: You must show the rough-to-finished process please show the rough stone before you cut your heart as well as the finished piece. We would also love to see your preforms and the stages of cutting if you feel so inclined! 6: Page admins and Crystal World staff (such as myself) are not permitted to compete, but feel free to share photos if you want to join the challenge just for fun! 5: Have fun! LAPIDARY CLUBS: feel free to share this to your club pages or let your members know, if they would like to join the page and the contest they are more than welcome. We would love to see lots of people get involved! You are welcome to make your own post on the page to share your work, or reply here in this thread. However, if you make your own post, please tag me so that I can ensure to make a note of your entry and don’t somehow miss your post during a busy period at work. Once the contest closes, I will create an album of all the entries. The winner will then be determined by a popular vote! (Entrants may not vote on the winner, for obvious reasons.) If you have any questions feel free to ask! (The two photos in this post are hearts I’ve cut, just to set the mood for hearts!)

21.01.2022 Thank you for the the beautiful card Vivien made for me as well as the amazing flowers I got from the club when I resigned my treasurer position last week. I'm sure Michael will do a wonderful job taking over from me.

11.01.2022 Some of the bits I have been working on: What have you been up to? Hey, the numbers are coming down maybe we can start going to the clubrooms again, before Christmas . Did you get the membership email? When you read it, change the years listed to 2020/2021. As it is for this year and next year......... not last year... Also please do do your renewal, as it is needed so an AGM can be held to keep all the legal stuff up to date. See more

07.01.2022 Read this!!!!! EDIT : If you have paid your membership and not received an email from me with a voting slip attached, please send me ‘Silver Burra’ your email address via Facebook messenger and I will ship you the voting page tonight after work.

The planned Committee meeting has been put back to the 20th February, depending on the way the Covid-19 restrictions go. 01.01.2022 If you are looking for wire, like I was this is a good place to look

01.01.2022 Week ........ I don’t know what, of Covid -19, stage 4 lockdown..... What have you been doing? Please post a pic and a description of what you have been doing, be it lapidary or not. It’s a great way to keep in touch without breaking the safety strategies that Victoria has in place currently. I have been working on a temperature blanket that I started in the January school holidays but only got to January day 5. Now I’m up to February day 7 maybe I will get to March before ...the September school holidays I have also been working on a chain maille necklace designed by my friend Karen Donald. See if you can figure out what it’s going to look like from the pic with all the bits...... maybe draw a design, using the parts pictured, and then post it here

01.01.2022 The clubrooms will be open this Saturday, 9th January 2021, for members. You will still need to book in for the session with Bob Lennon and numbers are limited. The club will be following the covid safe strategies that were in place at the end of 2020. When you drive into the gallery and are stopped at the booking centre just explain that you are a guild member and they will allow you to drive through. ... Bring a mask. Bring your own cup Complete the covid form Sign in and pay the session fee But most of all, enjoy the time you spend playing with gems , metals , tools and machines while here
