19.01.2022 COMFORT ZONE It wasn't a comfortable felling moving towards a set deadline with clay and glaze that i have never used before...a little exciting to explore new forms, a little scary not to have enough time to run a few prototypes! Fun to share the journey with 5 other potters.. My creative process starts in my mind and stays there a while procrastinating, daydreaming, working the obstacles and the imagined final form. I keep a work diary of everything i make a quick sketch fo...r proportions, document Ø H measurements, clay weight and clay body. Firm views loosely held, it can all change on the wheel and often does with new works. Intuition and feel play a part as much as does it just look right and will it be functional, how does each vessel fit as a part of the greater whole. Do they compliment while dragging previous experience and design DNA into the mix. Duo pictured are the Short Cup perfect for herbal tea from a pot or a short black. 05.01.2022 SHOP UPDATE I missed the mid August shop update deadline! I am a turn up 10 minutes for a appointment be on time person so this is slightly unsettling. The Claying journey has a lot of balls to juggle for one person and I dropped a coupleI am sure things will get tighter as we practice. . Good news is the last of the kilns loads are coming through NOW that will deliver the final vessels ready for releasein the meantime I will be busy.. - Polishing / sealing the last vessels.... - Shooting images / updating web descriptions. - Preparing enviro friendly packaging. - Creating email campaign to go out to FVIP (Frank Void VIPs) who get first access to SHOP OPEN a couple of days before the socials. - Worrying about what I have forgotten. . 02.01.2022 BASALT I have known and ignored that the basalt rock used to mark/dint/swipe each cup would wear out, break or worse get lost...this week it broke! still useable, but replacement required. This stone appeared long before my pottery journey, found worn and smoothed amongst the huge basalt boulders that form the local seaway groin. Banjo, my son and i would spend hours fossicking for crystal formations along the seawall.
