19.01.2022 Attention all fishers! The Total Allowable Commercial Catch for black jewfish on the East Coast has been reached and black jewfish are now a no-take species for all fishers. This means fishing for this species is now closed to commercial and recreational fishing until 1 January 2021. Penalties apply. The fishery remains open in the Gulf of Carpentaria where recreational fishers are reminded that black jewfish has a possession limit is 1 per person and maximum boat limit of 2 ...per vessel. This information comes from Fisheries Queensland.

16.01.2022 With barra season well and truly underway, it is important that terminal tackle is strong enough to handle big fish. By upgrading trebles and split rings, you are able to minimise the chance of a big fish straightening the hook or busting off completely. Various treble options are available to alter the action of the lure, heavier gauge hooks such as the VMC 6X strong and the BKK RaptorZ allow a floating jerkbait to suspend creating a more enticing presentation and to sit in... the strike zone longer. Lighter options like the Decoy Y-W77 allow the lure to still keep its floating action while still having strength. Dont forget to upgrade split rings, with the Decoys being a good choice. You will need a good set of split ring pliers to make things easier. All products described and shown are available in-store!
