25.01.2022 Juniper the giant, is the biggest love bug. She just wants to give love and get it desperate for pats, desperate to give out grooms to other bunnies. You will instantly fall in love with this girl. Book in to meet her for adoption!

25.01.2022 Hi eveyone!recognise me from FFR stories a few days ago? They picked me up from the pound after I was called agressive anyway, I'm not! I was just a bit scared. But I'm not anymore. I'm pretty cheeky. FFR picked me up and took me to their rescue. I'm having a great time, meeting new people, smelling all the other bunnies. There's even talk of me getting a permanent home. They also tell me I'm pretty handsome so they took my pictures. Oh and I have a name! They call me dumpling. So if you want to adopt me, message them and mention my name.

25.01.2022 Covid -19 Stage 4 Lockdown Good morning everyone. Many of you are probably wondering how these new restrictions will affect FFR and your current applications for adoption as well as those wanting to begin the process. This is new territory for all of us and we will need to contact the relevant Government agencies to receive a ruling on what activities we can and cannot do over the next 6 weeks. Please bear with us and be patient while we conduct these communications and we will let you know when we do. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

24.01.2022 Little Grayson and Freedom For Farmed Rabbits are asking for assistance to contribute towards the urgent surgery needed for his ear. This surgery is called a Bulla Osteotomy. Grayson's story is sad and somewhat bizarre. At only 6 months old, he was rescued from a domestic violence situation and arrived at the shelter in very poor condition. With lots of nourishing greens and tender loving care, he soon began to show us his enchanting personality and zest for life. Just two d...ays later, however, something very strange occurred; Grayson's right ear had developed an infection prior to him coming to us. This infection became so severe that his ear literally rotted off. Something our vets have never seen before. The infection had also crushed the main facial nerve causing permanent facial paralysis on that right side. To alleviate the pressure, a small hole was made by the vet so the infection could seep out to be cleaned daily by his foster carer in addition to regular penicillin shots. During this time, Grayson never let any of this get him down, often seen binkying around his enclosure before flopping down for a quick nap. He loved his food and continued to eat like a champ, putting on 20 grams in a couple of months. Even though he seemed to be doing much better, another visit to the vet showed that the infection had in fact worsened in a part of the ear known as the Bulla and would need an operation known as a Bulla Osteotomy. This procedure will allow full exposure of of the infected contents of the Bulla and will facilitate the drainage and flushing of it with antibiotics. Our aim as a rescue, is to give each and every rabbit who arrives in our care, the best possible chance to live a happy and healthy life in a forever loving home. Grayson still has a long life ahead of him. He is such a happy little soul and deserves the best chance of putting this debilitating infection behind him. As a charity, Freedom for Farmed Rabbits does not receive government funding and relies solely on the kind donations from the public. No matter how small the donation, we very much appreciate anything you can give as will Grayson who hopefully after surgery, will be doing binkies again in no time! If you would like to contribute, please use the direct deposit details below. Account Name: Freedom For Farmed Rabbits BSB: 033 358 Account N.o: 454681

22.01.2022 Ok so there is a reason these buns look so unimpressed. They were just surrendered to us this week. At 6 and 3 years old. The girls are understandably confused and unsure. Rescue is not an ideal place for any rabbit long term. Being a bonded pair, their chances of being adopted decreases. We are putting these girls straight out there, in hopes someone will come and sweep them of their feet into a forever home. While they do look grumpy, they are actually very lovely buns. * * This makes 15 rabbits that came into our care just this week alone. Settling in the newcomers has taken over alot of our time. However we are now back online to catch up on all of your messages.

22.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder for those of you who have recently followed our page. We are first and foremost a animal rights organisation, that advocates for all animals! We do share some beautiful stories of rescued, rehomed animals, however we also owe it to them to show their struggle and liberation. Hence the warning of Graphic images. These animals come from abuse, neglect and oppression. We appreciate all new and old followers who continue to support our campaign through the highs and lows of rescue. You will find this information in the about section here on Facebook.

20.01.2022 Update: Transport organised. Thank you Fiona! Request for transport tomorrow, Saturday 11 July for two guinea pigs from Richmond to Oakleigh Sth in the early afternoon if possible. We will provide you with a letter of authority to travel as a volunteer of FFR. Please message us if you can help. As always, we very much appreciate your help.

19.01.2022 This fantastic organisation, rehome animal's that have been used is research. They have successfully rehomed guinea pigs and dogs! And now rabbits! As we all know, rabbits are the most exploited animals on earth. Combined with The Rabbit Sanctuary NSW, Liberty foundation has put up their first rescued rabbit's from research. Please if you are in NSW and can give these rabbits a home we encourage you to contact them asap. In order to save more rabbits from a horrible fate, they need to get these bunnies into safe homes. Let's show the world that rabbit's are valued and deserving of more than being a test subject. If you can't adopt, please follow the work of the Liberty foundation and get involved in other ways.

17.01.2022 If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others.. why wouldn't we? -edgars mission

17.01.2022 Further to the story of this poor rabbit who is currently fighting for her life. Only 3 weeks ago she had given birth to these poor babies who are now deceased. It is a possibility that that this rabbit has been in this state since birthing these babies. The father rabbit is also suffering from head tilt. We have secured his safety and he is also being seen. We are devastated we couldn't help these babies, however we will do everything in our power to help the parents. Thank you for your swift response in helping us help them!

16.01.2022 Sadly poor little Milly has just come to us from rural Victoria. Her guardian passed away and left behind many animals on a farm property. Its a devastating situation for all involved. We promise to take the best care of Milly and find her a permanent home as soon as possible

15.01.2022 Cheeky but sweet Veronica found the greens before we had a chance to hand them out Veronica is desexed, vaccinated and ready for her new home in Melbourne Vic.

14.01.2022 Nessie being hand fed, like the Queen she is

13.01.2022 This week we welcomed Billy Chester, Billy was used for backyard breeding. At under a year he has fathered several litters. He was then discarded when they discovered he has teeth issues and was no good for breeding. His front teeth overlap and grow so quickly they are almost imbedded in the top and bottom of his mouth. Without regular trimming or removal, Billy would literally starve to death as his mouth will be locked shut. Not to mention the many rabbit's bred into existence from breeding Billy, that could have inherited the same dental issue. We are getting right on top of this. Don't be shy in adopting Billy or toothless bunnies as they do very well and can lead happy, healthy lives with the right treatment.

13.01.2022 Two days in a row of double cuteness! Sadly these buns were also surrendered to us this week. However life is going to be great from here on in for these two, 6 month old girls. We will make sure of it. To apply to adopt send us a message for an adoption questionnaire.

09.01.2022 Double trouble! Sweet dwarf sister's who are the babies of a group of 14 Netherland dwarf's we took in several weeks ago. Its been a massive job getting these tiny bunnies all desexed, vaccinated and ready for adoption. They are just so tiny and hard to reach desexing weight. Pictures don't do them justice.

09.01.2022 A recent picture of rabbits awaiting slaughter evoked strong reactions. So please consider this. I cannot recall a single cooking series that has not included s...ome dish(es) made of the flesh of these gentle and timid little creatures. It’s all made to look so normal, so jolly, so acceptable, as programme participants smile, and sip, and nibble the morsels of flesh and entrails. This bloody flesh that we see in the supermarket, these small and naked corpses were once like these; desperately afraid, huddling close with their friends, awaiting the rough hands and the blades of those we pay to do our dirty work for us when we are not vegan. Every single day, 2,687,079 of these innocent little individuals are slaughtered in slaughterhouses for the meagre portion of flesh their tiny bodies yield. That number does not include those who are shot for ‘fun’, or because they are considered to be ‘vermin’ for trying to live in a place where our species wants to make money from using other species; or because they have been flayed for their fur, or tortured in laboratories, skin abraded, eyes burned out, mutilated. All of these things that we do as a species, are all the manifestations of the delusion that we are indoctrinated with from our earliest years. Speciesism; the fantasy that all other species exist for our convenience and that we need have no concern or justification for our actions, however monstrous, however obscene. See the individuals behind our needless brutality, their fear, their desperation. All our victims are like that. And all it takes is a moment to decide that no more innocents will quake in terror on our account. Make that decision today. Decide to be vegan. Image by Jo-Anne McArthur / Animal Equality. 08.01.2022 We have many new arrivals this week, from all sorts of poor situations. This face of perfection, is one if them. Can he be any more adorable?

08.01.2022 When we first heard about Nic, we heard that there was a terrified little boy struggling at the pound. Unclaimed, un vetvworked, and unloved. That all changed when we picked him up. Yes, he was scared and unsure. We took extra time to calm his nerves, show him all the good things in life, fresh food, love, space and pats. Its was a few weeks before we gained his trust. It took time to get him comfortable and ready for the great life he has ahead of him. Nic is now desexed, vaccinated, single and ready to mingle. If you have a desexed female bun, book her in for a date Nic is still shy but very sweet, he's reserved and kind. He breaks out in the occasional binky and loves a reassuring pat. *check out his glow up from pound to rescue. *He's in Melbourne Victoria. Message us for more information.

07.01.2022 People have frequently asked us how big the Netherland dwarf siblings, Maisy and Mason are. Hopfully this carrot will help you gauge just how tiny they are in comparison

07.01.2022 When we said yes to a bunny on death row, 7 hours away, with one day left to get a "save" we didn't ask, age, sex, breed, who or why. We just said yes. Today a dedicated volunteer who drives all over Victoria transporting animals, arrived here with the precious cargo. What a beautiful package this guy is. He's got sunburnt fur, with knots, and a few years behind him as far as we can tell. He's already so grateful to be safe. With some TLC he's going to the most loveable bun.

07.01.2022 Warning graphic images! Some of you may be aware of our work with rescue cats in addition to rabbits. Our support for Cheltenham Cat Rescue includes fostering some of the harder cases, just like we often see in bunnies. We take in the terminally ill and very young orphan kittens. Recently we felt it was our duty to step up and help this dedicated rescue by caring for some very vulnerable kittens and cats from a terrible hoarding situation. ... Some of you may find the images distressing. However please don't look away. These tiny souls are currently residing with our team to get the one on one care they need. Taking on a rescue mission of this size does not come cheap. Our friends at CCR are raising funds for medical treatment for many of the sick kittens. Those in our care will most likely need removal of both or one eye, when they are old and strong enough. The youngest boy Stevie, who weighs in at only 400 grams. Was handed to the rescue in a supermarket shopping bag. These kittens have been through hell. If you're unable to contribute financially but have items such as blankets, towels, beds, tunnels food, flea or worm treatment and would like to gift them to the lucky survivors. We would love to accept them as we are going through lots with their care. Drop off can be at oakleigh south or we can arrange pick up for those further away. Please pm us Keep watch on both our pages for some heart-warming updates https://www.chuffed.org/project/you-are-safe-now

07.01.2022 There is no doubt that if you have been to FFR HQ you will have met(and remember) Naomi. She actually has a bit of a fan base Shes big, she's bold and boisterous. Shes loud and proud. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to get it. That may be pats -she will run to you at full speed and demand them. Food-she will jump on you to steal it.Toys - she will throw them around her room. Space -she likes a to show you where things should go,and in what order, then flop peacefu...lly on her own doll bed. Room to run- she will shake her crate until she's allowed out to socialise with everyone in the room. This girl will have you entertained for hours. Naomi hasn't been without great applications for adoption. However its going to take a patient and understanding home to be able to love with this bossy woman. Dont get us wrong, shes not aggressive but she can on occasion nip dogs, other bunnies and most likely small children. Trust us when we say she's bossy in the most loveable way. She's had a terrible life prior to rescue. If we are honest, it makes us so proud to see her assert herself like this, after her personality was suppressed when she was locked in a tiny, filthy hutch for almost 2 years. If you have room for a big personality in your life, please apply to adopt Naomi

06.01.2022 If you can find room to help one of these rabbits in desperate need please contact Romeo's Rabbit Rescue

03.01.2022 Update. For those who wish to donate towards their care, again we have had trouble with our pay pal however one of our fantastic supporters has organised a go fund me if you wish to donate there. https://www.gofundme.com/f/urgent-rabbit-operation-help SHE MADE IT! This tiny little bun with the world against her, has spent the last 3 weeks suffering and a 24 hour hospitalisation flighting for her life.... It was confirmed that she gave birth to a litter of babies 3 weeks ago. Her then "guardians" had all of the babies euthanized as she was too young to care for them in their option. In reality she was just in agony. She had prolapsed and was in no condition to look after babies. We offered to take the family and hand raise the babies. They declined. She was then placed back with the male, while suffering from this condition. Where she was again mated and inevitably fell pregnant. It wasn't until this poor girl had severe blood loss and her insides were protruding out, we were contacted to ask "does she need a vet? " we immediately took her and the male bunny into our care. We are forever grateful for the staff at The Unusual Pet Vets, Frankston. Who despite our overdue account rushed her in for life saving surgery. If she had not seen a vet within hours she would not be here today. She had lost a large amount of blood and was in a critical condition. When the vets operated, they had to repair her reproductive system and desex her. A lengthy, dangerous and costly surgery. During this they found 4 dead babies who were decaying inside her,in turn causing toxins to enter her body. Taking into account that this adolescent girl only weighs a kilo and had already endured so much the odds were against her. It is only with the expertise of the vets, and the generous support of you, that we could get her through this. As a charity and one of Victoria's largest rabbit rescues, to say we are struggling financially is an understatement. We know many of you are living in very unpredictable times, so to say we are overwhelmed with your kindness, generosity and concern would not be enough. We are truly touched by the support and just how quickly without hesitation you had faith in her and us to get her the help she desperately needed. Tonight we are not out of the woods as we know what a toll something like this has on a tiny creature. We will be monitoring her closely as she is home with us.She is comfortable, and receiving 4 different medications to keep infection and pain at bay. We promise to keep you updated on her progress along with dad who also suffers from headtilt. Out of such tragedy we are pleased to be able to bring you some good news. Thank you once again Pictured with nurse Alliahna

02.01.2022 New arrival, Brayden is practically begging for someone to take him home! We wont tell his story now because its a tear jerker, and the weekend is coming with lots of amazing people meeting bunnies to adopt. So we will leave this on a good note and let you know, despite a rough start,Brayden is still one of the happiest and friendliest boys here

02.01.2022 2012 when we first shared this photo from our undercover investigations into rabbit farming,in Australia. Thankfully this farm is now shut. However there are still thousands of rabbits languishing in cages like this, all over our country. Just waiting to die. Please like and share this image to raise awareness for rabbits raised and killed for meat
