09.01.2022 Today is the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. With more than 40 million people still trapped in slavery around the world, sadly the need for a day like this is greater than ever before. Hagar has chosen this day to launch our first telethon. As witnesses and frontline responders to the devastation caused by slavery for more than 25 years, we feel compelled to do all that we can to bring this suffering to an end. However, at present we can only help one out of e...very ten people who come to Hagar for help. Please help us increase this number. Today, we have set a target to raise $50,000 to help more survivors rebuild their lives after escaping the devastation of slavery. Can you help us? Thanks to the generosity of The Spotlight Foundation, Mr Peter Halas and two donors who have asked to remain anonymous, all donations made today will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $25,000. Our small dedicated team and a host of volunteers will be answering calls from 7am to 12 midnight Australian Eastern Daylight Time.
