24.01.2022 If you are squishing tomatoes, we can help! No tomato deserves to die like that (unless maybe in a pasta!)

22.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there (Here is what one of our team made for their dad!)

22.01.2022 It took awhile, but we have finally removed the handles from that beautiful chef set. As you can see there is a bit of rust and grime buildup from a lifetime of use. It’s only surface muck though, they will clean up nicely.

22.01.2022 The final strop! Our restoration is just about complete. This is the last step before we find out.... will it shave?

21.01.2022 Remember my cleaver handle dilemma last week? Just wanted to pop in and show you all; it’s finished, and I love it! Thank you all for your suggestions! We still have the other materials left, if it’s your jam get in quick!

21.01.2022 The new handles will be made from Gidgee, which is an awesome wood to work with. Super hard and durable, and the way the figuring catches the light is just divine. Definitely one of our favorite handle materials! (Check out the size of that giant chef knife! It’s got to be the biggest we have seen!!)

21.01.2022 Pretty excited about this restoration piece that came in recently! This antique Bengal straight razor is likely more than 100 years old, and has been in their family for generations, but hasn’t seen the light of day for awhile. Can’t wait to share the progress with you!

20.01.2022 This gorgeous set of knives has come to us for new handles. They are the pride and joy of their owner, who has spent many years of his life in hospitality which these as his main tools. They were gifted to him by his mum when he was 21, which was 25 years ago. We will be sharing progress shots over the coming days

20.01.2022 We have completed the fit and finish of this stunning old Bengal straight razor! We were in close contact with the owner all through the process. There is still visible pitting and blackening on the blade from rust and wear, and the scales are quite yellowed which has been kept this way to preserve its history. We have put in new pins and spacer though, which was necessary to bring it up to usable and functional. Next step is to make it sharp!

19.01.2022 Here is the new spacer for the antique razor we are restoring! After likely more than 100 years of use, the spacer became worn and the fit became poor. We were able to remove all of the rust, but the real concern is the razor being bumped around and damaging the edge without the spacer being the right size. We have handmade this new spacer out of nickel silver, and it’s sitting beautifully #restoration #antique #bengalrazor #straightrazor #cutthroat #shaving #handmade #razor #antiques #silver

17.01.2022 If you are sick of squishing tomatoes, send us a message. We can definitely help! #knife #knives #kitchen #kitchenknife #blade #sharpening #tomato

14.01.2022 Almost half way there in only 2 days! We knew we made great knives, but wow it’s humbling seeing you believe in us too! Why Kickstarter? We wanted to bring our handmade quality, but without the custom price tag. We are taking on the big guys; the brands that are mass produced offshore with inferior quality materials and manufacturing. We want to bring every kitchen simple, elegant, top quality knives. If we fund this, it will help us get better equipment and bulk steel, and w...e are passing the savings to our backers and followers. If you want to help us achieve our goal and get your hands on these, the link is in the comments.

13.01.2022 Make sure you look out for us today in the Financial Review! We have been working on some knives for Ross and Sunny Lusted’s new restaurant, Woodcut Restaurant. It has been a very fun project, although COVID has definitely added a layer of complexity with staffing and sourcing materials.

12.01.2022 Happy Friday! Meme time, Show us your best!

11.01.2022 Remember the antique Bengal from the other day? Well here it is after days of verrry careful cleaning. We have neutralized the rust with acid, and removed the grime from the scales. I noticed the spacer has worn very badly, so we are going to make a new one with nickel silver. I am gaining confidence that we will be able to get this bad boy back up to shaving sharp and usable once more! #razor #antique #straightrazor #restoration #cutthroat #shaving #antiques

11.01.2022 Did you know we offer post in/post out services? Especially popular with straight razors from all around Australia, we will happily post any knives, tools, hair clippers, or anything else you need sharpened and maintained. Send us a message for more info! #knives #razor #sharpening #honing #courier #snailmail #bladesmith

08.01.2022 Did you know that how you store your knives makes a big difference to how long they stay sharp? If they are bumping around together in the drawer, the edge just won’t last #knives #knife #blade #sharpening #kitchen

07.01.2022 We have disassembled the razor. We suspect that we’re going to have to make a new spacer, because over so many years of wear and tear, the soft metal has worn. We are chatting with the owner regularly to decide how to balance the preservation of history and see if we can restore function. #restoration #straightrazor #cutthroat #bengal #antique #antiques

07.01.2022 Remember the chef’s set of knives? Here they are now! Handles shaped, and hanging to dry after a second coat of handle oil. This will help to protect the handles, and also brings out the gorgeous figuring in the wood #knife #handle #gidgee #refurbish #freehandcreations

06.01.2022 Introducing our Magnetic Knife Rack! We have been working on this concept for some time, and we are super excited to show you our rack! Made from Australian hardwood with two rows of neodymium magnets running just below the surface. Stores them safely and displays them beautifully, while protecting the blades from bumps. ... Link in the comments!

05.01.2022 Just before the fit and finish of this antique Bengal straight razor we found the hole in the tang has become worn and oversized after a century of use. We have filled the hole and drilled a proper size fit for a pin (right is before, left is after - it’s a big difference!) #restoration #antiques #straightrazor #cutthroat #shaving

05.01.2022 Restoration complete! This antique Bengal razor (circa 1900) was an amazing project to work on. It took a lot of time, patience, and care to get this one done, but we succeeded in restoring it back to a shaving-sharp and usable piece. Thank you so much for trusting us with this beautiful family heirloom.

03.01.2022 Quick pic of this pretty kiritsuke. This client wanted us to play and experiment with the handle a little. We settled on gidgee (because we love it!) with clear polymer spacers that have just a hint of colour. What do you think? #knife #knifemaker #kiritsuke #vegetableknife #bladesmith #handmade #australianmade #blade #freehandcreations
