23.01.2022 The RFS involvement with the flood clean up has now come to an end. At the height of the flood approx 1/3 of our brigade area was under water. Once again, Mother Nature threw challenges at all of us across the Hawkesbury ...and once again, we have taken on those challenges. Our brigade put in a huge effort over the past 2 weeks. We are proud of the effort and commitment of our members in supporting you, the wider community and assisting the SES in evacuations and recovery fol...lowing flood. #FRRFB

22.01.2022 LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO THIS WEEKEND? PREPARE YOUR HOME...Even if your plan is to leave early, the more you prepare your home, the more likely it will survive a bush fire or ember attack. A well prepared home can also be easier for you or firefighters to defend, and is less likely to put your neighbours' homes at risk. A well prepared home will also give you more protection if a fire threatens suddenly and you cannot leave. Here are some basic maintenance tips to prepare ...your property: * Clean your gutters of leaves and twigs * Install metal gutter guards * Repair damaged or missing tiles on the roof * Install fine metal mesh screens on windows and doors * Fit seals around doors and windows to eliminate gaps * Enclose the areas under the house * Repair or cover gaps in external walls * Attach a fire sprinkler system to gutters * Keep lawns short and gardens well maintained * Cut back trees and shrubs overhanging buildings * Clean up fallen leaves, twigs and debris around the property * Have hoses long enough to reach around your house * If you have a pool, tank or dam, put a Static Water Supply (SWS) sign on your property entrance, so firefighters know where they can get water * Check and maintain adequate levels of home and contents insurance. Ensure it is up to date. You can assess your risk using the bush fire household assessment tool: https://assessmyrisk.rfs.nsw.gov.au/ #FRRFB

22.01.2022 A very big MERRY CHRISTMAS from todays Gospers Mountain crew and from the whole of Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade. We appreciate the love and support from our community more then ever

21.01.2022 Tomorrow NSW will experience very dangerous fire conditions, with Catastrophic fire danger forecast for Greater Sydney, Illawarra / Shoalhaven and Southern Ranges. Lives and homes will be at risk. A Total Fire Ban is in place for the whole of the state. People in areas of Catastrophic fire danger should avoid bush fire prone areas and identify safe locations in their area such as large towns, cities and shopping centres. The Fire Danger Ratings are being constantly monitored ...and may change throughout the day. Freemans Reach will have crews manning the truck across the whole weekend day and night. More information is available at http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-in/dangerous-fire-conditions

07.01.2022 DONE AND DUSTED. Today marks the end of the Fire Season, it has certainly been six months that we would rather not have experienced. As we continue to live through these unprecedented times, we havent really had time to reflect on the devastating fires. Whilst we focus on getting through the current situation, the members of the Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade would like to sincerely thank you, the residents of our community for the phenomenal support that we received thro...ughout the entire fire season just gone. Your support and generosity went a long way to keeping our spirits high and pushing on day after day through what was the longest and largest campaign in our history. Our focus now is to keep our members and community healthy, whilst maintaining our readiness for emergency response. Rest assured, the RFS have strict measures in place to help protect our members, who are also members of our community. Hence, you might not see us out and about training or doing maintenance for a while but we are most certainly still on call 24/7 For now though, take care, look after each other and lets get through this together. We can look forward to enjoying the simple things in life once again. Bruce Earle Captain Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade #FRRFB

04.01.2022 \\ Captains Christmas Message // Wishing our wonderful community a very Merry Christmas. The members of our brigade would like to sincerely thank you all for the overwhelming support and donations that have come our way. It is truly humbling. ... Our volunteer members are just ordinary people amongst our community, no different to anyone volunteering in the school P&C or a sporting club but right now they are making an extraordinary effort to protect our wider community. Your support, whether it be through social media, signs on gates etc, waving to us on the road or through the generous donations of water etc and surprises when we arrive home at our station, goes a long way to keep our spirits high and keep battling on against this mega fire. I would also like to commend the members of our brigade who have committed so much time and sacrificed family and work time, to keep our truck out on the fire ground. Its been very challenging and we havent always been able to put a crew on the truck for a shift but with around 40 crews and over 2000 member hours to date, I have nothing but praise for our members. The commitment, professionalism, reliability and standard of fire fighting that our guys and girls have maintained is extraordinary and something I am very proud about. And to our crew out today on Christmas Day, we thank you so much. Heres a few photos from the last 7 weeks, plenty more to come. Merry Christmas, we hope you all have a great day. Best wishes, Bruce Earle Captain Freemans Reach RFB

01.01.2022 It certainly was a hot one yesterday! FIRE DANGER RATINGS give you an indication of the consequences of a fire, if one was to start. The higher the fire danger, the more dangerous the conditions. You can check ratings on the NSW RFS site. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans... Today's rating is LOW-MODERATE #FRRFB
