22.01.2022 When it comes to keeping our bodies in good working order we all need the help of a physio. Today we give a huge shout out to the fabulous team at AB Physiotherapy who understand the importance of exercise (and the toll it can sometimes take on our bodies!) and have been a long-time supporter of the Fremantle Ports Swim Thru. This incredible bunch of physios are knowledgeable in a wide range of treatments and therapies so if you're looking for advice, look no further. 17.01.2022 The Fremantle Ports Swim Thru is a community swim like no other. First held in 1922, it was the first ocean-water swimming race in Western Australia. It is believed to have been the longest ocean swimming race in Australia at the time, hence the nickname The Big Swim. The original swim started at the Fish Market Jetty and finished at South Beach Jetty (now demolished), a distance of one and a half miles. ... The first race was won by 14-year-old Maisie Boyle. For her efforts, Maisie won a teapot, a replica of which sits atop the current trophy, known as the Maisie Boyle trophy. After a break, the event was reborn in 2003 and has been run by the Fremantle Fins Masters Swimming Club at South Beach in December each year. Fremantle Ports have been proud naming rights sponsor since 2006. We are very much pressing ahead with plans for this year’s Swim Thru, which will take place at South Beach in December. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for all the latest updates and be sure to follow us on Instagram @fremantleportsswimthru #fremantleportsswimthru #freofins

16.01.2022 We are delighted to announce Fremantle Ports as the Major Sponsor of our annual Swim Thru for another year. Fremantle Ports has been a long time supporter of our event and we thank them for coming on board again this year.

15.01.2022 Freo Fins member and ukulele artist extraordinaire Alan de Lacy is using his talent to raise funds for a fabulous cause The Freo Street Doctor. Al has partnered with the Freo Street Doctor, to present Midnight Lady, a song he wrote after meeting a homeless woman trying to find a place to sleep during a rainy night in the city. He decided he wanted to make a difference in his community by helping people like the woman in the song. There are many homeless people w...ho are in desperate need of medical help, especially now. The Freo Street Doctor is a not-for-profit organisation which provides much needed medical assistance to these vulnerable people. An astonishing 94% of patients rely on the Freo Street Doctor as their primary source of health care while 64% patients need treatment for two or more chronic illnesses. The Freo Street Doctor doesn’t receive any government funding and relies on community support. So go on, click on the link below and for just $5 download Al’s fabulous tune (or contribute more if you wish to). And please, share the love so every time you and your friends play the song, it will remind you of your kindness and how you made a difference! Or in Al’s words, sometimes it's just the little things that we do that can make a big difference. These people really do need our help so I urge you to make the effort to do your part. Be the change you want to see in the world and check out the link below

14.01.2022 We are all looking forward to another fabulous swim thru this Saturday but your safety and comfort remain our utmost concern. We are doing our bit to keep you and WA safe by providing a QR code for you to scan using the SafeWA app when you check-in during registration. Manual registration forms will also be available for those for whom technology is all just a bit much! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants for their cooperation.

08.01.2022 Thinking about how you will get to the Swim Thru on race day? Did you know there is a free CAT bus you can jump on at the Fremantle Train Station or in Fremantle CBD that takes you straight to South Beach. There are also Transperth buses that travel down South Terrace. Check out the Visit Fremantle website for more information about public transport, cycling and parking locations https://www.visitfremantle.com.au/plan/getting-around

07.01.2022 The Fremantle Ports Swim Thru is a community swim run entirely by volunteers and we could not do it without the support of our generous sponsors. Today, we give a big shout-out to long time Swim Thru supporter, Fairweather Corporate Lawyers. Led by Tony Fairweather (who let's just say isn't too shabby a swimmer himself!) Fairweather Corporate is a specialist legal practice providing corporate legal services to a range of ASX and unlisted public companies as well as broking houses, underwriters and financial services providers. Thanks Fairweather Corporate, for your ongoing support of our event. https://www.fairweathercorporate.com.au/lawyers.html
