25.01.2022 Ha!! Anyone else relate?! Going to blame mine on the baby brain

25.01.2022 It may feel impossible right now, but you'll get there. Just keep going. www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au

25.01.2022 I’m still here!

25.01.2022 Lunch prep doesn't have to be hard or take forever. Put together a salad with leftover veggies or whatever you have in the fridge. Our lunch prep for this week is a salad with roasted pumpkin, beetroot, chickpeas and asparagus, with some goats feta and balsamic.

24.01.2022 Ah yes, diet culture and the perpetual argument of you must be 'hungry' in order for a diet to work. What utter, utter rubbish. Diets don't work. A change in lifestyle does. Eat the food.... www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au

23.01.2022 Wishing all of my patients and their families a safe and peaceful Easter break. I will be in the clinic on Easter Saturday morning - don’t forget, I’m off on maternity leave in three weeks, so if you need to book in your follow-up, please do so ASAP. I’m also now not accepting any more new patients until I return from leave.

21.01.2022 Some motivation for your Monday.

20.01.2022 We have some beautiful weather here in the Hawkesbury today! I'm in the clinic today and am loving seeing the progress of my clients - and it's only mid-morning! I have some spots available on both Thursday and Saturday next week; if you've been wanting to book in (and have been putting it off), or you need to re-book for a follow-up, click on the website link to book online or give me a call.... I look forward to hearing from you!

18.01.2022 Gosh, it's been so busy lately! Even a little sinusitis hasn't stopped things this week - isn't Zoom great?! I'm completely booked out again next week; if you'd like to be put on the waiting list for a spot, please get in contact with me. I'm also taking bookings for November and December - please book now to avoid missing out on a day and time that suits you. There are limited spots available each week for new patient's. ... Feel free to book online at your convenience, or give me a call to have a chat. www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au

18.01.2022 So privileged to be able to help a fellow Hawkesbury businesswoman. Food sensitivities can seriously affect quality of life, and they contribute to SO much. Don't suffer in silence.

18.01.2022 The 'Nourish' 10-Week Health and Wellness Program is launching on October 1st 2020 in the Hawkesbury! This is not a diet program, nor is it like anything you've probably come across in terms of other programs you've seen. 'Nourish' is designed to help kickstart your health and wellbeing - it is a holistic, gentle approach to good health with the intention of introducing lifestyle changes and strategies that will stick with you for life. There is no one size fits all goal acro...ss the board; one person may like to shift some weight, whilst another may need assistance with disease management (such as Type 2 Diabetes or Cardiovascular Disease). You will have the benefit of weekly consultations with myself, a qualified Clinical Nutritionist, as well as the option of a one-off (or ongoing) appointment with either Kathryn Gene (qualified Mental Health Therapist) or Elka Cruz (Accredited Exercise Physiologist) - or both! In 'Nourish' you will have access to a private Facebook group (ongoing professional and peer support, exclusive recipes and tips), as well as two information nights covering relevant topics (location TBA). Investment: $57.50 per week ($575.00 total). Weekly EFTPOS or Direct Debit options are available. Relevant testing and optional consultations are additional. Further details will be released in the coming days; if you have any questions or enquiries regarding the program, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me. I look forward to hearing from you! Jayne

17.01.2022 Happy Wednesday! What are some words of wisdom you'd like to share with others to start the day?

15.01.2022 Well, if you’ve been following the news at all, you’ll know that the Hawkesbury and surrounding areas are under a significant amount of water right now. As I’m unable to get to the clinic for consultations (we’re on the other side of the bridges, and trapped by landslides on the only other way out), all appointments this week will be offered a Zoom consult in its place or a reschedule for next week. Wishing all my patients and their families safety in this, yet another natural disaster to hit our area in under two years. We’re strong, resilient and brave, however it can really get to us. Please, if you need to have a chat, don’t hesitate to reach out. So many have been broken by the relentlessness of the last 18 months.

15.01.2022 I am SO excited to be the speaker for tomorrow night's Hawkesbury Women in Business Networking event! We'll be having a chat about the effects of stress on nutrition - a very important and relevant topic. If you're a local business woman and would like to come along, please click on the link and purchase a ticket. There are still a couple of spots left! https://fb.me/e/3uRqvaP2c

14.01.2022 This is brilliant! And one of our favourite local restaurants too (we had our wedding reception here many moons ago).

12.01.2022 I love and despise this all at the same time - it demonstrates just how fickle marketing and social 'norms' can be. The take away from this? Just be yourself. Image credit: @alexlight_ldn

12.01.2022 Happy Monday! You were born to shine Photo source: Pinterest

11.01.2022 Happy Friday! Yes, I’m in the clinic tomorrow for the long weekend. I also have some spots still available for next week. Head over to www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au to book, or call/message to ask any questions.

10.01.2022 Happy Father's Day!

09.01.2022 It’s crunch time!! With less than two weeks of work left, I am urging those of you who haven’t booked in your last remaining follow-up consults to please do so ASAP. Give me a call or visit www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au to book online.

09.01.2022 Just a reminder for those who we are currently treating in our clinic, or those who wish to make an appointment. Please, if you are unwell, have been overseas, have been in contact with a known COVID-19 source or have visited a hotspot within the last fourteen days - reschedule your appointment. We are more than happy to do this for you in order to maintain the health and wellbeing of our clinic staff and other patients.

08.01.2022 Just doing some housekeeping as we’re gearing up for the end of 2020! I’ll be back in the clinic from Thursday January 14. I’m currently taking bookings for 2021. www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au

07.01.2022 It's 4 years today since my Master of Public Health graduation... Gosh, how time has FLOWN! So much has happened since then; I became a small business owner (and still am), I practice Nutrition in a clinical setting, and finally (and most importantly), I became a Mother. Each and every step of the way (including those painful, anxiety fuelled late night essay sessions) I've had the support of my husband, Owen. He's provided much needed level-headed guidance when I've felt like it was all failing, and he's celebrated each of my wins with me. His support has been invaluable

07.01.2022 Head over to www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au to book online.

07.01.2022 Don’t forget - in a little over a month, I’ll be going on maternity leave. Please, if you need to book your follow-up consultations do so ASAP so we can maximise the treatment time we have left. If it’s been a little while since you’ve been into the clinic and would like to come and have a follow-up before I finish, please do so soon. ... I am still taking limited new patients until April 1st.

07.01.2022 Toddler fussy eating - we're well and truly in the thick of it here! It also means that development is right on track; most children will go through a phase of fussy eating at some point between 15 months and 4 years of age. It can last only a short while or a good couple of years (). As a parent going through this, I completely empathise with others going through it as well... It is HARD. It's so so hard to not completely lose your cool when your kid just won't touch a veg...etable, or some meat, or whatever their fussiness is towards. Kids at this age need different plate portions to adults - that is, half of their plate needs to be a variety of starchy and non-starchy carbohydrates. This goes a way to explaining why at this age, kids are more inclined to eat the white carbohydrates (and also because they taste bland and are reliable - they know what they're getting each and every time). The key, as a parent, is not to lose your cool. They're going through a stage where they're finding their independence. If you lose it with them for not eating their vegetables etc, it'll only make them dig their heels in. So, give them a choice: offer two choices ("which would you like with your lunch, apple or pear"), so they'll feel like they're making the decision but, ultimately, you are. They may not even touch the option, but it's there. By offering the wide variety of foods repeatedly (even if they don't eat it), and not pressuring them, they'll be more likely to play with their food (yes, it is a good thing when they do this), lick it and taste it, and (shock horror) even eat it. It's all about experimenting. Also, by exposing your child to a wide variety of healthy options on a regular basis with the foods you know they'll definitely eat, it can make them more inclined to just try the offending food. Take a look at the attached photo. This was Miss 2's plate for lunch today (minus the hard boiled egg that was still cooking). I know she'll eat the cheese, grapes, spinach, & peanut butter (licks it off the celery). She'll eat her carrots occasionally, and she's not inclined towards tomatoes. So that's three foods on her plate that we're working on. Slow and steady wins the race!

07.01.2022 Lunches for the next few days - this is what I call grabbing whatever was in the pantry/fridge and seeing how far I could get you tend to care a bit less when you’re 8.5 months pregnant! 1 tin wild salmon 1 sweet potato, cut into chunks 1 red onion, sliced ... Several handfuls baby spinach 1/2 punnet cherry or golden cherry tomatoes 6 cloves garlic, crushed Handful raw cashews Grass fed butter Brown rice or quinoa to serve (optional) Cook sweet potato with a little butter in a non-stick frying pan on low until cooked through. Throw in onion, tomatoes, spinach, cashews, salmon and garlic. Add a little more butter until everything is just coated. Serve hot on its own or with brown rice/quinoa.

06.01.2022 Spring has sprung!

06.01.2022 To all my patients and their families - please stay safe in this torrential weather and flooding. For those who have been evacuated, here’s hoping you all have a speedy and safe return to your homes.

04.01.2022 Next week's availabilities are filling up quickly! I still have a couple of spots left on Thursday 5th November, and nothing left for Saturday. I do have a waitlist available for any booked out days, so if you'd like to get in for next Saturday, I can pop your details on the waitlist. Head over to the website www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au or give me a call and we can discuss your needs.

04.01.2022 I have a couple of consultation spots left for tomorrow from 11.30AM; head over to www.jhayesnutritionist.com.au, call or message for a booking.

02.01.2022 Just a gentle reminder for any new and existing patients; please, if you are unable to make your appointment, can you please let me know (preferably 24 hours beforehand). Unfortunately due to recurring (very) late notice cancellations and no-shows, it has left me no choice but to be strict with enforcing the cancellation fee. This will especially be the case for no-shows and if I cannot get a hold of you. I really dislike doing this however, as a small business owner, I need... to be able to cover costs, as I am unable to offer the appointment to another patient who may be waiting for a spot. I totally understand that, sometimes, life happens and you are unable to make your appointment. However a quick courtesy text or call is all that’s needed to reschedule for another time. Thank you for understanding. Jayne

01.01.2022 Your gut health is imperative - especially for mental health.

01.01.2022 Women's Health Week 2020 This week is all about empowering and educating women about their health and wellbeing - today's focus is on "Money Matters". Financial stress or strain is one of the leading causes of overall stress in a woman's life. Overall, women earn significantly less than men over the course of their lifetime (namely due to taking time off to have and raise children). Whilst it can significantly impact both men and women, for women it may greatly impact on the...ir day-to-day, as it can trigger anxiety, depression, insomnia, panic attacks, and friction within relationships. A longitudinal study completed in 2012 and published in the Oxford Journals (Shippee et. al, 2012), followed a group of women over three decades to establish the health impacts of stress on the body, in particular financial stress. The results showed that the health impact in women was delayed; that is, it didn't significantly impact their health negatively until later in life (from middle-age onwards). Chronic disease and depressive symptoms were amongst those significantly noted. It is important to note that a holistic approach is always needed when combating the poor health of a patient; stress (especially financial stress) is always a significant contributor to chronic inflammation within the body, which leads to disease and illness. If stress reduction techniques and practical strategies are not put in place to properly deal and cope with stressful situations, it will always become evident in the overall health, whether it be immediately or later in life. 01.01.2022 So here’s the primary reason why I’ve been a bit quiet on the socials lately... we’re expecting Bub #2 in May!
