21.01.2022 Many of us have made changes this year in response to Covid-19. In WA, we have been lucky to have less restrictions than in other parts of the country. However physical distancing, limiting contact and working from home have left us more likely to feel isolated or lonely. This may be especially the case for those who are unable to visit loved ones over the holiday period. You may have experienced feeling anxious or stressed, having low energy levels or worrying about the fu...ture. If you have experienced any of these remember that you are not alone and that there are things you can do to improve how you feel. Always remember that help is available and it's OK to ask for support. https://www.health.gov.au/resour/video/hows-your-head-today#

19.01.2022 Feeling a sense of belonging and inclusion has a significant impact on maintaining mental wellbeing. Culture also has a significant impact on what we consider normal or mentally healthy. Mental health issues can be dismissed as cultural norms, or healthy behavior considered a cause for concern when it is different from what others expect. Recognizing the impact of culture on mental health is becoming increasingly relevant as Australia increasingly recognizes and celebrate...s the diverse cultures in our society. The following video will be the starting point for tonight's discussion of how being surrounded by a different culture can impact mental health and wellbeing. https://youtu.be/VrYmQDiunSc Have you experienced lived among a different cultural group? And what impact did it have on your mental health? Join the discussion in the comments below or at the FremantleMind Inc. Hub tonight at 7pm. 16.01.2022 2020 has been a year of ups and downs. Whilst it is almost time to begin 2021 we need to remain conscious of the need to take care of our mental health over the holiday period. 01.01.2022 Its #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Act to create a world where fewer people die by suicide. Raising awareness, increasing knowledge, debunking myths and stigma and reaching out to someone can all help. It doesnt have to be big actions, small things can be just as powerful. Take a moment to check in with yourself. Are you okay? Its always okay to reach out for support. You are not alone! ... 2020 has been a challenging year. Our connections are now more important than ever. It doesnt take much to generate a connection to someone - a smile, a few kind words or a familiar face at a regular event. All of these small actions make a big difference. A friendly smile can mean someone doesnt feel completely alone, and a conversation can save a life. Have you smiled at someone today? Did you take a minute to look around and see how those around you are doing? Have you reached out to ask "Are you OK?" or taken the time to listen to someone? #ruok #mentalhealth #suicideprevention
