22.01.2022 FESTIVAL CANCELLED | We have regrettably made the decision to cancel this year’s Fremantle International Street Arts Festival due to growing concerns about the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is following advice today from the Federal Government and leading health experts. Making these decisions is always a tough balancing act, however your health and safety will always come first. We have been working with an incredible group of artists this year and where possible wi...ll be inviting them back in 2021. See you on the streets next year, The Festivals Team
21.01.2022 Did you know that Fremantle International Street Arts Festival first started 22 years ago in 1999? The Festival was known as the Fremantle Buskers Festival until 2004. We've dug through the archives and found some media clippings from back in the day - do you remember the Festival way back when?
20.01.2022 Fremantle International Street Arts Festival favourite Mat Ricardo sans stage but still putting on an epic show from the comfort of his own kitchen. We can't wait to see Mat in all his show-stealing, side-splitting and jaw-dropping glory back on the Streets - but in the meantime, enjoy a laugh and marvel at his serious skill and epic stunts through your screen
18.01.2022 There's something special about the Street Arts audience - they're up for anything and love any excuse to get involved, so here's a mash-up of some our favourite street-side audience moments from across the years.
16.01.2022 Fremantle International Street Arts Festival is nothing without its loyal audience members. Loud, excited and up for (almost) anything - we’ve seen some fairly outlandish audience participation over the years.
14.01.2022 We’ve seen some serious juggling action on the streets over the years - it’s a Festival staple, and one we can’t wait to see more of when we hit the streets again in 2021
12.01.2022 We’d heard of painting the town red, but it wasn’t until ‘The Invasion’ arrived that our port city was enveloped in a colour all of its own pink. When these pink intergalactic beings invaded the Festival in 2012, the Slovenian performers caused havoc as they stopped traffic, chased shoppers, planted pink kisses on unsuspecting women, scared children, tormented dogs, looted stores and even staged a carjacking. We know people who are still washing the pink paint out of their hair do you remember these stars hitting the streets in 2012?
11.01.2022 Since the Festival’s inception we’ve seen some seriously fantastical feats it almost feels like each year the stunts become more death defying than the last. Pushing themselves to the absolute limits, we’ve had some incredible (yet crazy) artists grace the streets of Fremantle. Space Cowboy is quite literally the man without fear. You might’ve caught him juggling chainsaws, swallowing swords or cracking whips last year? You would’ve had to look up though because he was doing it all from the comfort of his three-metre high unicycle.
10.01.2022 It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to cancel the 2021 Fremantle International Street Arts Festival. While we love seeing you on the streets over Easter, the event traditionally attracts over 100,000 people and has been deemed high risk in our current environment. Although the event has been under consideration for some time, the final decision comes in light of the current health regulations and advice from the Department of Health. We are working on developing projects that provide the opportunity to celebrate Fremantle, without compromising public safety and we look forward to sharing them with you soon.
10.01.2022 Out of work but not out of action Paul Currie Comedian has been flat out creating his IsolationRecreation series in his Belfast home - we’re looking forward to seeing Paul and his hilarious antics back on the streets of Fremantle in 2021.
09.01.2022 That’s a wrap folks but just before we head off and start planning for 2021 (we’ll be back, we promise) we wanted to throwback to 2014 when Jessica Arpin and her red-spotted frock hit the streets of Fremantle and wowed onlookers with her spell binding cycling prowess. We can’t wait to see you on the streets next year, so until then stay safe and look after one another we’ll be back before you know it.
06.01.2022 http://www.streetartsfestival.com.au/about/opportunities/ Planning is underway for the 2021 festival and expressions of interest are open until Friday 6 November for fresh ideas from Western Australian creatives. Stage shows, street performances, installations, visual art, roving performances, music, site specific, on the ground, in the air, on the water, if its fun, surprising, and engaging we would love to hear from you.
03.01.2022 This would have usually been a very busy week for Fremantle - welcoming artists from all around the world, enjoying a laugh and getting ready to transform the streets for an Easter long weekend spectacle. Like the rest of the world, we have needed to make some big changes and decisions based on what is happening around us. While the Festival won’t be going ahead this weekend, we thought we’d take the opportunity to share some of our favourite moments from over the years with ...you. So, sit back and enjoy as we take you on a Street Arts journey, all from a socially acceptable distance.
03.01.2022 We checked in with some of our performers to see how they’re going, and we’ve received a message from Hilby The Skinny German Juggle Boy He’ll be back on the streets in 2021, breaking boundaries and juggling crazy objects (and subjects) all to the tune of his high flying German comedy. But until then, settle in and enjoy a little bit of Hilby right here in your own home.
02.01.2022 On what would've been Street Arts Festival-eve we're throwing back to some of our favourite Festival moments from over the years for your viewing pleasure. So, sit back, tune in and immerse yourself in the colour and life of our port city

01.01.2022 At the heart of the iconic Festival is the transformation of Fremantle’s historic streets into a world stage reclaiming the streets for the long weekend and watching every corner of our port city come to life.
01.01.2022 Arguably one of the best seats in the house the The Sail and Anchor Pub balcony has seen many a festival performance in its time. When was the last time you were perched on this famous balcony, and what kind of street theatre magic did you witness? Extra points if you can share a photo with us via DM!
