25.01.2022 The gorgeous Cary Grant posing on top of the Hotel Raphael in the 16th arrondissement of Paris in 1956, with the Arc de Triomphe in the background. Brilliant!

25.01.2022 I don’t just love French cheese, I love all the fascinating stories and history associated with French cheese! This is a beauty!

24.01.2022 Just perfect! Thanks for sharing Cindy Hubbard!

24.01.2022 I had totally forgotten that when we were on board "Shannon Princess" in Ireland in 2018, they filmed a little promotional video... starring US! And yes, the food and wine were every bit as good as it looks here! This barge is always booked up about a year in advance, so you need to get in early! For more info email me at [email protected]!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7tbPeHYgp8&feature=youtu.be

23.01.2022 I need a cup of tea and a lie down after watching this.

22.01.2022 I hesitate to use the word cute about ANYTHING in relation to the devastating bushfires that are ravaging our beautiful country... but this is a... unique shot!

21.01.2022 Im sure were all loving Zoom parties at present... but they come with certain frustrations!

20.01.2022 Just finished our Treasures of China tour! It was amazing! Here are some of the treasures we saw... via selfie!! Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Pandas, and the magnificent Karst mountains of Guilin!

20.01.2022 Of course not! Stop drinking in January? Never heard of such a thing!

19.01.2022 Ive been having fun today making another video - this one is of some of my favourite images of guests and friends (and people weve stumbled across) in France, taken on my tours and barge cruises over the years. Very hard to narrow down to these few... I have hundreds! So many memories in this video and apologies to those who didnt make the cut... Im sure youll be in some others!

16.01.2022 Its baby season at the Chengdu Giant Panda Research & Breeding Base! In order: 1 week, 1 month, 2 months and 2 years. I never get sick of seeing these beautiful creatures. The Base here has been so successful with their breeding program that Pandas are no longer on the endangered list! The setting is a beautiful park with bamboo forests, green enclosures with trees and play equipment. Panda Heaven! @ Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

16.01.2022 The Galeries Lafayette Christmas tree is always worth looking out for... this years is stunning as always!

15.01.2022 This is the funniest sketch I have seen for a long time!

15.01.2022 The perched village of Grignan, on the edge of Provence, is the 159th community to be officially listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. I have stayed here many times with my guests on our Hidden Treasures of France tour - still one of my all time favourites - at the gorgeous hotel Clair de la Plume. The village is stunning in May & June when it is filled with 140 different varieties of roses in every nook and cranny of its ancient cobblestone streets!

15.01.2022 Places Ill always go back to... The gorgeous perched village of Les Baux de Provence is famous for its bloody history and spectacular ruined castle of the Counts of Provence... but nowadays one of its major highlights is the Carrires de Lumires, an old quarry where you can see one of the most incredible sound and light shows in the world, with themes that change each season. This Van Gogh exhibition was one of the most beautiful & moving sights Ive ever seen. Wheres a place in France youd always go back to?

12.01.2022 Thinking of happier times on board our beautiful hotel barges in France. Many wonderful memories... after 20 years I have SO many images to share but here are just a few of my favourites. Thinking also of all our barging friends in France, Italy and the UK who are facing many challenges at the moment. We will be back with you soon!

11.01.2022 Next year in August I am accompanying a group of friends on a fabulous barge cruise on board "Panache" in Alsace, France. As we are all self isolating at the moment, its an absolutely wonderful trip to be looking forward to when things get back to normal! Heres a little video I made today which shows some highlights of previous trips we have done on this gorgeous barge - enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY-Hdw0JAX4

11.01.2022 Have you been to Giverny? Everyone should go at least once in their lives!

11.01.2022 If you are looking for a new podcast, my beautiful friend Helen Fospero has been spending her time in isolation interviewing some fascinating and inspirational people, from the lead pilot of the Royal stunt team the Red Arrows (the Queen carries his photo in her handbag ), to music legend Whispering Bob Harris (incredible anecdotes in this one!), and Amar Latif, blind entrepreneur and TV presenter who set up the worlds first tour operation for blind and sighted travellers - some amazing stories that are just what we all need right now to lift our spirits! I highly recommend this! http://convex.podbean.com

11.01.2022 Which Christmas markets are you heading to? Check out our guide to the cream of the crop where you can sample Frances festive treats and pick up authentic gifts for family and friends.

11.01.2022 Fun fact: The Eiffel Tower is up to seven inches shorter in winter than in summer, because the cold makes the metal shrink!

10.01.2022 Christmas is coming and so are some exclusive special offers on luxury barge cruises! If you are thinking of travelling on a luxury fully crewed barge next year, this is a fantastic opportunity to benefit from an excellent discount on the cruise, or the added gift of a free nights accommodation! Offers include free hotel nights pre or post-cruise, and significant discounts on specific departure dates. https://frenchbarging.com.au//merry-merry-christmas-speci/

01.01.2022 Im sorry I have not been posting much lately... sadly its been a busy period organising cancellations and postponements and trying to get the best outcomes for our clients. Im happy to say all that hard work has paid off and nearly everyone has had a satisfactory resolution to their travel challenges this year. Ill try and post more, and make them happy stories! While we cant travel, we can do some armchair travel together. In the meantime, I thought you might all be interested in these amazing photos of an empty Paris... a sight none of us ever thought wed see.

01.01.2022 What old recipes are you pulling out during our present confinement? Ive been revisiting the good old Womens Weekly French Cooking Made Easy... some oldies but goodies - the Lamb Navarin is still one of my favourite recipes ever! I think my copy must be 30 years old and is splattered with marks from that long ago too!
