25.01.2022 Frenchmans River morning. Wattle birds love this time of day (ravens too.) So many birds around - I saw a robin yesterday. First of the season. Cheered when I saw her

25.01.2022 The long view to the bay from our Helmsmans House. Perfect for day dreaming. Come and stay.

22.01.2022 Autumn. A walk on the farm in the evening light? Why not. Frenchmans River is in no hurry. Come and stay. Glorious as the seasons change

20.01.2022 Throwback Thursday: rowdy afternoon with breeze(s) and birdsong; the Writers House last December - after it rained.; drier now but always lovely (yes, am biased : )

19.01.2022 Winter afternoon. Lovely day at the Helmsmans House. Nothing else to do but look at the view... and be. Just ... be.

19.01.2022 I remember.... not long after we opened when Kraig Carlstrom took this shot from the terrace of the Helmsman's House. That, amazingly enough, was what the light actually looked like (just as summer tipped over to Autumn.) Best, best magic hours we have in Cygnet...

18.01.2022 Just a bit of the view...

17.01.2022 Just about the most dramatic thing when you stay at Frenchmans River is the light; different moment to moment. Love a blue-black sky and a holly tree. (The Helmsmans House, moody day)

12.01.2022 Memory Monday; peering back to another spring - just for the birdsong, that day (the Writers House on a soft-breeze morning)

10.01.2022 We're Sorry, because of the Coronavirus travel restrictions and the Tasmanian Government closure of all accommodation properties, Frenchman's River closed on 30th March and will remain closed at least until the end of June 2020-possibly later- to ensure the safety of our guests, staff and our owners. We welcome your enquiries by email - for future dates after this emergency is over. Please stay well. Posie, Andrew and Kate.

10.01.2022 And if you like wine... Resolution Vineyard at Middleton is a great place to visit. Such a lovely drive to get there from here. Can recommend the Pinot 2017. Review coming in our Summer blog on the Frenchman's River website....

09.01.2022 So... at last I'm getting serious. Not only have I just set up this page BUT it's linked to the Frenchman's River instagram account. Why? I'm just doing a little experiment to find out how quickly I can link in with a bunch of people I know and love AND whom I think might like this place. Shameless? Certainly : )

08.01.2022 Thank you for your patience... We are delighted to announce we are planning to re-open Frenchman's River on June 26th. We will busy over the next few weeks throwing open the windows and re-stocking the pantries! We look forward to welcoming our guests once again.

08.01.2022 Beginning of Summer at the Helmsman's House just before Xmas last year. Love the sound of a sprinkler in the garden. Love the garden too. Come so far in such a short time...

07.01.2022 Autumn morning on the farm. The birds love the cool of dawn. Saw the first Robin yesterday. Winters coming (couldnt be happier about that, me : ) Gorgeous, gorgeous time of the year.

06.01.2022 Dawn at the farm; quiet winters morning. Nobody up but the birds - and us.

04.01.2022 Afternoon at the Writers House. Summer!

02.01.2022 Just a bit of a walk around the garden of the Writer's House. Spring is a rush. It really, truly is (this was all paddock, once. Now every seasonal change is an absolute thrill : )

02.01.2022 The sounds of the Writers House on a sunny afternoon. Birds!
