25.01.2022 "we need to be paying attention to these chemicals and we are starting to have enough information about them to certainly be concerned. Do we need anymore reasons to switch to natural personal care and cleaning products?

24.01.2022 You don't have to go to the gym to get exercise! You can get some sunshine, do some earthing and get your garden looking nice all at the same time.

22.01.2022 For those of us who love going out to eat but have specific dietary requirements or preferences, this is a great list of places around adelaide that cater for gluten free and vegan. There's a gluten free bakery just 5 minutes from where I live and I had no idea it existed until just now!

21.01.2022 Hi everyone! Long time since I've posted on here... I hope you'll forgive my lack of consistency, having a baby does that to you! (Squeezing this in as the little guy has a nap!) I just thought I would give you a little update and let you know that I've changed my business name to "Fresh Start Natural Health" instead of "Fresh Start Natural Medicine"... If you're wondering why... Well, most of what I focus on is helping your body achieve its own self-healing with the help of... natural aids such as herbs, nutritional supplementation where needed, and of course diet and lifestyle changes... So I do feel that the word HEALTH fits my philosophy much better! No update on when I will be getting back to seeing clients however... I will no longer be practicing in Blackwood once I do start up again. I'm considering going back to practicing from home, so I'd love to hear feedback on that idea... I would certainly get into practice a bit quicker if that were the case! I am still here if you have any questions, so feel free to shoot a PM or email if you feel the need.

20.01.2022 Now I know this isn't the Instagram model photo equivalent of a recipe, I'll admit my photography skills are lacking but this butter chicken dish has become a regular meal in our house. It's Pete Evan's recipe so it's gluten and dairy free (grain free if you omit rice or swap for cauliflower rice). I add a whole bunch of veggies to it to give it that nutritional boost - tonight just a whole bunch of grated carrot and zucchini from the garden, topped with roasted cashews. You could also add some chopped spinach or kale. Can't even taste it so it's a great option for the kids! Do you have a dish that you can easily sneak veggies into for fussy kids (or husbands )? I'd love you to share

15.01.2022 Have a happy and healthy holidays everyone

15.01.2022 G L I T T E R "...microplastics like cosmetic glittermade by bonding aluminum with polyethylene terephthalate (PET)impact sensitive ecosystems. That'...s because PETs leach out endocrine-disrupting chemicals, which, when eaten by marine life, can cause adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological and immune effects, said Farrelly. In this recent study, microplastics are shown to significantly impact the reproduction rates of oysters... ...PETs attract and absorb persistent organic pollutants and pathogens, adding an extra layer of contamination. When those at the bottom of the ladderlike molluscs, sea snails, marine worms, and planktoneat pathogen or pollutant-carrying particles of glitter, these minuscule poison pills can concentrate in toxicity as they move up the food chain, all the way to our dinner plates".

14.01.2022 Don't be fooled into thinking cow's milk is a health food.

08.01.2022 A study earlier this year estimated that 86% of children and teenagers have BPA, an endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) that mimics estrogen, in their urine! The researchers came to the conclusion that reducing these levels was unavoidable through dietary changes and the teenagers involved agreed it would be too difficult to carry on the diet changes long term, as they were unaware of what foods contained BPA, and which ones did not, due to lack of labeling. This alone prov...es that we need more education regarding the issue. You do not need to go looking for "BPA free labeling"... you just have to avoid plastics in our food, processed foods and canned foods as much as possible, as this is the main source of EDCs such as BPA. In the case of young children and babies, I would also add limiting plastic toys and other items as this is another form of exposure from a young age. Do you already try to limit your exposure to these chemicals? How do you do it, and do you find it difficult like these teenagers? I'd love to know!

07.01.2022 It's so important to look at the health of both couples when looking to conceive... successful conception and pregnancy needs a healthy sperm and a healthy egg, not just one or the other.

03.01.2022 "The precise mechanism underlying this is still unclear, but it appears that the sperm of those who had suffered recurrent miscarriages had twice as much DNA damage than those who didn't."

01.01.2022 "Any breast milk is better than none whatever way you can deliver it. But what I think what these studies are showing is that we shouldn't assume that all breast milk is the same when it's delivered in a bottle or at the breast."
