16.01.2022 With rain and heat these little buggers come out to play. Alot of people dont realise these ticks are fatal to your pets it takes antivenom to save their life. Please keep up to date with the proper repellents, even your cat can be covered now so if your not sure ring your vet and ask what would work for you. Stay safe this Christmas

04.01.2022 Did you know that guinea pigs are obligate nasal breathers? Due to their unique anatomy, these animals are made to breathe through their noses and not their... mouths. Their soft palate and epiglottis (opening to the windpipe) are in such close contact that it can create an effective seal from the oropharynx. The theory is that as prey animals they are mostly snacking on the run therefore if they can breathe and eat at the same time, they have a better chance of refuelling themselves while still on the look out for predators. However this means that guinea pigs (along with rabbits) do not handle respiratory infections well and if they get sick enough, they will try to breathe through their mouths. If they get to this stage, the prognosis is not great unfortuantely and many succumb to the infection and the associated stresses of being sick. If you notice your guinea pig or rabbit has: discharge from the nose (especially if white/green/yellow) sneezing laboured or difficulty breathing facial asymmetry/swellings a head tilt weight loss/inappetance/lethargy They should get a check up with a guinea pig/rabbit savvy veterinarian as they may be suffering from a respiratory infection.
