21.01.2022 A regular visitor to our bird baths, not only are these delightful birds a colourful addition to our understory but they are also highly adaptive... Did you know, superb fairy wrens sing a melody to their eggs while they are in the nest? When the chicks hatch, the adult wren will sing this tune to their young. Those that respond with the same tune stay in the nest, those that do not are not fed! This adaption is to protect against cukoos who lay their eggs in the nests of smaller birds for the unsuspecting parents to raise on their behalf! This beautiful footage is courtesy of Jan Wegener!
