24.01.2022 Well work has been happening on what has been referred to as the block at the top of Robinson Rd. Its where the Morrisons use to live and was taken over by National Parks sometime in the late 1990or early 2000s.It seems according to his son we have Mr Morrison senior to thank for the Green Mount National Park. Apparently wood choppers moved into the area and began chopping down the towering forest trees. A horrified Mr Morrison would fill their fuel tanks with sugar in a...n effort to end the destruction. It was only when he took the issue to council and had endless talks with Parks in Perth that the saws fell silent for good. Over the last few months Friends of the Green Mount National Park and Community Hub has formed. The group has been slowly clearing away rubbish and planning a space where the community can gather, learn, support each other and celebrate. At this stage our hope is to create an outdoor space with some simple seating and have gatherings there. All are welcome to join us we will be posting when we are having a busy or other events. We welcome you to join us. If you havent wandered onto the block and had a look around lately give yourself a treat and do so, there are some wonderful views. Oh and keep an eye on this Facebook page as it will be one of the ways that we will be letting you know when things are happening. Next tasks on the agenda will be taking out the bamboo and some of the dead wood. Watch this space for dates. Happy Day all from Shane
23.01.2022 Things have been happening in FOGMNP and community Hub. Cubby building has made creative use of some of the cut down bamboo. The core group met on site with Rebecca and Doug from the department to discuss next tasks. Over the next few months as equipment becomes available the septic tank and the large pile of pruning will be removed by department staff. The various threat species will be cut back and treated with a bio roundup which has minimal impact on the environment. So as you can see step by step things are happening. A big thank you to community members who have been busy working on the block. You have all been marvellous.

15.01.2022 The Insect Hotel or Bug Box was removed from Lot 334 today as it has been moved several times and then was reported as fallen or pushed over. It survived for one and a half years attracting a gecko as resident to eat the few insects that attempted to live there. As the designer I am making some strengthening modifications and will see if it is more successful in our shady front garden in Padbury Road.
13.01.2022 After removing with a wrecking bar 200+ bamboo rhizomes at the end of Winter, a mass of lupin bushes replaced them in Spring! They were pulled up before their seed pods burst and taken to the tip.

06.01.2022 Please look at and support the FB site: Stop the Flight Path - as the aircraft will fly directly over the peaceful block that we have all focussed our energies on!
06.01.2022 Bug box or insect hotel built beside driveway before disassembling to move to the block. By increasing the block's insect population insects will then assist pollination of local wildflowers. Also good for kid's education regarding importance of insects (bugs).
