25.01.2022 Come along and enjoy a night of Carols at Carols in Glenmore Park. Friends of NADO One Agency Reeves Properties are not only sponsoring this event, but will also be raising funds for NADO on the night through a Jelly Bean Guessing Competition. Drop by and try your luck.... Its sure to be a wonderful family event.

25.01.2022 We are thrilled to advise that we are able to support four young men with a disability who are in the process of moving to a shared living home. Two of the men have moved in and settling in well and the other two will move in over the next month or so. We located and leased the lovely 5 bedroom property in St Clair, to provide a settled and secure lifestyle for the residents, a home that they can call their own. Our staff provide 24 hour support and assist them with their ro...utines and personal growth. The donations received through Friends of NADO have purchased the white goods for this home, a good quality fridge, washing machine and dryer. We want to thank all of our Friends of NADO partners for your support, your donations have made a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people in our community. 25.01.2022 Dont forget there are a range of community events planned in different locations across the Nepean Blue Mountains area in the upcoming months as part of the ea...rly transition for children and young people to the National Disability Insurance Scheme. These events will help people with disability, their families and carers to understand the NDIS and how they can get ready. The next round starts early August, so check the flyers below for a forum in your area. IDEAS NSW and My Choice Matters (MCM) will be hosting these events which are supported by Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), The Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). IDEAS NSW will be holding Community Forums during July and August 2015. There will be forums held in Penrith, Windsor, Leura and Lithgow, with the first of these sessions commencing this week from Monday 13 July 2015 and sessions also in August. Please see the flyers attached for more details. What will the Community Forums discuss? Families will hear from a NDIA staff member about how to access the NDIS and important first steps, including pre-planning. How to use mainstream options to maximise value and inclusion. Stories from a participants family already accessing the scheme. Who should attend? Families of children and young people with disability. Please note there will be FREE entry, parking and childcare available. My Choice Matters events commence the last week of August, so keep an eye out for information closer to the event.

You... can go on-line to check our resources, just click on this link http://opac.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au and type NADO into the top search field. Replenishing the collection with current and relevant resources is important to us. Please let us know if you have any recommendations. Call Ann on 9623 9855 or reply to this post. You may be interested in a new addition to the collection called Me and My Eyes by Betty Murray. Betty Murray is vision impaired and partially deaf and has had 2 guide dogs over the last 14 years. During that time she has had many problems with shop access, taxis and people wanting to pat the dog, with many also stopping her to ask different questions about the guide dog and what it can do. She decided to write a book about her life, the loss of her sight and give answers to many of the questions people ask her. The book has chapters including: Growing Up, Finding Love, Living with Disabilities, Working with Guide Dogs and many more.

23.01.2022 Thanks to our Friends of NADO partners. Our Teen Time program has been kitted out with a wide range of sport and outdoor games. The kids will have an awesome time now! Weve also purchased a fantastic array of craft items for our Make it with Me program!

22.01.2022 Our most recent Friends of NADO Partners - Ben Holden and business partner Glen Simmons kindly invited all of our participants from Macquarie Avenue to their McDonalds at Bondi and provided everyone with a lovely lunch with delicious dessert. They treat them like VIP guests with reserved tables and waiter service! They even organised car parking, so they were totally spoilt! This wonderful connection all came through Ben and Glen attending one of our NADO Friendship Gatheri...ng Days earlier in the year which then lead to Ben and Glen joining our Friends of NADO team. Ben and Glen recently suggested that our participants from Macquarie Avenue take a trip to Bondi to say hello and catch up. We cannot begin to thank them both for their continued support - everyone had a fantastic time as you can see by the smiles on everyones faces below.

Last night there was Neon paint, flashing coloured glasses, loads of glow sticks, awesome music, a visit from the big man in red and a ton of fun had at NADOs Respite and Recreation Neon Christmas party last night!

03.01.2022 Are you a Cyclist or do you know a Cyclist looking for a CHALLENGE? Then NADO has a CHALLENGE for you. NADO is currently looking for Cyclists or anyone who woul...d like to CHALLENGE themselves to participate in a virtual cycling CHALLENGE for the month of September (1-28) and fundraise leading up to and during this event. The Great Southern Crossing is a virtual cycling event taking place in neighbourhoods, bikeways, and open roads in every part of the country. You can even participant in your own home or at the gym (please see FAQs for what is required under stationery bikes). Registration is FREE to join. Grab some friends (max 5 per team) and CHALLENGE yourselves to ride 5,200 km over 28 days and as a team fundraise for NADO through your Everyday Hero page $5,000 - that is $1,000 pp. Think you are up for it? 01.01.2022 NADO is excited - its only a week away from the Penrith CBD Festival next Saturday, 19th March, 2016. A part from having some of our wonderful NDIS Transition team being there to help you with any of your NDIS questions, we will also have Peter Byrne - Cartoonist from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm there to draw your picture for $10 per person - it only takes 5-10 minutes to get one done.
