20.01.2022 Starting today, the historic, one-off $600 WA Household Electricity Credit is now appearing on power bills. It'll be applied to all residential accounts over th...e November-December billing cycle, and it will mean WA families have a bit of extra money available in the lead up to Christmas. My only request is this: if it means you have a bit more to spend these holidays, please support our local WA businesses. Spending local means supporting WA jobs, supporting your fellow West Aussies, and keeping WA safe and strong. All residential customers current as of 4 October qualify for the credit. If you have a Synergy or Horizon Power account, the amount will appear automatically on your next power bill. If you pay for your electricity through a different provider, you can apply to receive the credit at www.wa.gov.au/energycredit

10.01.2022 With no further local cases of COVID-19 overnight, and strong testing numbers, I can now confirm the next steps for Western Australia. At midnight tonight the l...ockdown will end as planned. However, a range of interim restrictions will remain in place as part of a stepped-down approach. We need to be cautious as we come out of lockdown. The virus could still be out there, and that’s why this approach is safe and the best way forward. We can’t go back to where we were like last week, just yet. This approach will give us confidence to begin to get back to normal while we wait for further testing and the incubation period of the virus to come to an end. The interim restrictions will be in place for the next four days - specifically from 12.01am Tuesday 27 April, through to 12.01am on Saturday 1 May. As we receive more test results, we will review the situation in a few days, and then detail the plan for Saturday and onwards. These will be the new arrangements for Perth and Peel: From tomorrow, people in the Perth and Peel regions will be free to leave their homes. Masks will remain mandatory, as they are now, both indoors and outdoors, and on public transport. As they are now, masks are not required for primary school children or younger, for vigorous outdoor exercise and for people exempt, including those with certain disabilities. The ‘stay at home’ order will be revoked - people can return to work unless they can work from home or they are in a vulnerable category. All schools will resume, but all staff and students at secondary schools will be required to wear a mask. Primary school students will not be required to wear a masks. Teaching staff at both primary and secondary schools are permitted to remove their mask while teaching. TAFE can open, just like schools. Universities are open but only for online learning. From tomorrow, there will be a 20-person limit in all homes, and private indoor and outdoor gatherings. All public venues including hospitality venues, entertainments venues, and retail outlets can re-open except for the Casino, nightclubs, and indoor fitness venues. The 4 square metre capacity rule will be in place for this period only, with a limit of 20 patrons, not including staff. As in the past, the workplace, schools and public transport are exempt from the 4 square metre rule. For hospitality venues, like pubs, cafes and restaurants, it will be seated service only for the next four days. For the next four days, weddings and funerals can apply for an exemption to have 100 people. As they have during the lockdown period. Community sport and training can proceed with players and officials, but no spectators. Visits to hospital, aged care and disability care facilities are restricted to compassionate grounds only. Elective surgeries will be limited to Category 1 and urgent Category 2 procedures. In terms of travel, from midnight tonight, people can travel out of the Perth and Peel regions, to other parts of WA. However, anyone who has been in Perth or Peel since 17 April must wear a mask in public places, as per the requirements above. I’d encourage people to visit www.wa.gov.au to find more information. Our team will be uploading information to the site as quickly as possible, so people should check in regularly to receive the latest information I understand there will be a lot of questions and there will be some confusion, and I know these conditions will be tough for many businesses. But it’s important we remain cautious and ease off restrictions, in line with health advice, so we can get back to normal as soon as possible. Coming out of lockdown is no easy task. It’s about balancing things out and coming to a point that is in the best interests of the whole community, based on the latest health advice. Over the next few days, as we get more people tested, we will be able to then outline the next plan, beyond Friday. It’s been fantastic to see so many Western Australians do the right thing over this challenging weekend but it’s crucial that we keep it up. Keep getting tested, using the SafeWA app, practice good hygiene and COVID-safe habits, and keep looking out for one another. Thank you WA.

10.01.2022 As part of today's launch of our WA Recovery Plan, we've just unveiled a major new package of renewable energy projects across Western Australia. It will be a s...ignificant boost towards innovative, clean energy projects that will create jobs, reduce costs and improve WA’s renewable energy footprint. It also includes important initiatives for communities in regional WA - using renewable energy and emerging technologies like battery storage to solve long-term problems which have faced regional and remote WA. The $66.3 million package includes: - 50 standalone power systems to deliver clean, reliable power to regional and remote locations - Installing Battery Energy Storage Systems in nine regional communities - Upgrades to energy infrastructure in remote Aboriginal communities - Investing a further $10 million in innovative local clean energy projects through the Clean Energy Future Fund - Installing solar panels on around 500 social housing properties across WA - Transforming up to 10 schools into smart, green Virtual Power Plants, with solar panels and commercial batteries - allowing the local community to contribute and withdraw solar power they generate, reducing power bills for the school and the community - Installing solar panels at up to 60 bus and rail stations These are exciting initiatives that will help our State become greener and cleaner, while also creating jobs for Western Australians and improving our power network. This is just one part of our WA Recovery Plan, with many more project to be announced in the coming days. For information on these projects and our Recovery Plan, please visit www.inthistogether.wa.gov.au

05.01.2022 Our volunteers are ready to go. As part of the Covid-19 Pandemic we have in place the following steps. COVID-19 Update During this COVID-19 pandemic, we thought you might like to know what ... Friends of the Community Inc is doing in response. Firstly, we are ensuring the safety and well being of our volunteers and the people with whom we work. We are following the World Health Organization’s advice, as well as guidance from State and Federal Government, City of Cockburn health authorities. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take appropriate measures to reduce any potential risks to our volunteers and those who have contact with us. Our volunteers have completed the Accredited Training for Covid-19 Hygiene Course 2020 to keep us all safe. As a precaution, we have increased our already high standard of food safety controls within all our operations. We will continue to produce our high quality food items. We urge you all to take care of yourself and your loved ones in these unprecedented times. President Norm Dale Friends of the Community Inc

04.01.2022 *** IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE *** I have just come from an Emergency Management Team meeting the third that has occurred today, as we have waited for more inf...ormation to come through from our contact tracing team. This situation has been evolving throughout the day. Here is what we know so far: This morning, separate to results from yesterday, a male in his 20s who works as a hotel quarantine security guard, who has had his first COVID-19 vaccine, has tested positive to COVID-19. This is case 1,001. Case 1,001 worked at the Pan Pacific Hotel on 24, 25 and 26 of April. Each day, his daily saliva test results were negative. He did not have any further shifts at the hotel over the next few days. On his first day off, Tuesday April 27 - is the day our health authorities expect he could have been infectious in our community. We understand that on the evening of Thursday the 29 April he developed symptoms, which he thought was related to his COVID Pfizer vaccine. On Friday morning that is yesterday he went to a Hotel Quarantine facility for his weekly PCR test under the requirement we have in place for hotel quarantine workers. That test result came back this morning and was confirmed to be positive. During this period, seven other people were living in this house, including two guests from Canberra. Late this morning those seven people were tested and their results returned just after 1.30pm today. Out of the seven housemates, two have returned a positive result, the other five are so far negative. Contact tracers are working as fast as they can to ensure we can have anyone that was potentially exposed, to be put in self-isolation and tested as soon as possible. A list of the potential exposure locations will be on www.wa.gov.au As we know, the information is coming through as we speak, so the locations and times could change and more will be added. It’s important that anyone who has been to an exposure location is tested immediately. What has helped enormously is that due to the interim restrictions we have had in place since Tuesday which has significantly reduced movement in the community and the fact everyone has been wearing their masks gives us some confidence that the risk of transmission is lower than it would normally be. These factors and the fact we have picked up these cases early, means we can avoid moving into a lockdown - at this point. But it is possible this could change by tomorrow or the day after. There is one change we will make immediately though. Due to this evolving situation we will revert to our mask rules as they were yesterday, as an extra precaution. That means, people in Perth and Peel and anyone from Perth and Peel in other regions of WA MUST wear a mask inside and outside. Children 12 and under are exempt, are as other exempt people, and when doing vigorous exercise outdoors. We need everyone to do the right thing here. Wear your mask, use SafeWA, practise the COVID-safe principles and get tested if unwell or you have been to an exposure site. Please. I’m urging everyone to do the right thing. This is about protecting you, your family and our community.
