06.01.2022 ‘Visions of Country’ includes two recent acquisitions by Peter Boggs. ‘Underpass (Which way now)’ and ‘The road leads from here to where (Underpass) present ne...w perspectives to the familiar, everyday urban landscape. As a tonal painter, Boggs’ selection of a subdued palette distils the subject into its geometric shapes, blurring reality and abstraction. It is in this state of in-between that Boggs’ sits comfortably, inviting the viewer into his encounter with streets or countryside. ‘Visions of Country’ continues until 21 January 2021. The Gallery is open from 10am-4pm daily (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). Image: ‘Underpass (Which way now)’ 2014 oil and graphite on board and ‘The road leads from here to where (Underpass)’ 2011, oil on board. Donated by Peter Boggs through the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program, 2020.
