19.01.2022 Just after 8am this morning Schofields were responded to a House Fire. While on route the call was changed to a gas leak on fire. On arrival we found there was ...a ruptured 32mm gas pipe alight directly next to a 11Kw electricity kiosk which had also caught fire. Approx 3 meters away was a 2 story house in danger of catching alight from the fire. The crew from Schofields quickly got to work to protect the house using a line of hose with FRNSW Riverstone arriving shortly after to assist with a second line of hose. All residents were evacuated by NSW Police to a distance of 200 meters for their safety. Crews continued to apply a protective water spray for some time utilizing crews from Kellyville and Blacktown stations until the Gas company could shut supply to the area. First Aid was rendered by FRNSW Riverstone to 1 worker who received burns to his arms prior to Brigade arrival and was assisted by NSW Ambulance on their arrival and transported to hospital. Multiple crews from Fire Stations arrived shortly after to find large volumes of smoke issuing from the hospitals loading dock. A 4th alarm response was requested and many trucks were sent from all over Sydney. 08.01.2022 NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK | More than 1200 people are killed and a further 44,000 injured on our roads each year. In 2018/19 we responded to almost 5,000 motor... vehichle crashes that required people to be extricated from their vehicles. We are trained and prepared to help at rescue incidents, but we would rather these incidents don't happen at all. Please drive to survive - take the pledge today: "I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs." #NRSW #DriveSOS

07.01.2022 TRAINING IN REAL CONDITIONS | As one of the world’s largest urban firefighting agencies, we train to get it right. Our Academy’s new ‘live fire’ training facili...ty tests our skills, knowledge and preparedness so we can save lives and help keep you safe. The live fire facility generates real smoke, extreme heat and low visibility just some of the conditions our firefighters work in fire emergencies. Despite our world-class firefighting efforts, NSW house fires account for around 15 preventable fire fatalities each year (based on a 10-year average). You can help reduce these stats by being fire-safe this summer season. Visit our website for fire safety tips: https://fal.cn/3bff6 #MoreThanFire #PreventionAndEducation #Training

02.01.2022 SOLAR PANEL FIRES | We are urging residents with solar panels to remain aware and vigilant after an influx in solar panel fires this year. This footage was obta...ined from a neighbour in Glenwood who called Triple Zero (000) after noticing a house nearby had solar panels alight. This was one of six solar panel fires that Fire and Rescue NSW attended in the past week alone. These statistics show solar panel fires are up 20 percent compared to last year and continuing to rise. Isolation switches appear to be causing almost half of solar panel fires, so it is vital to ensure solar panels are installed and regularly maintained by a professional and that systems comply with Australian Standards. Always do a licence check with NSW Fair Trading before any installation and wiring takes place. This can be found at https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels. #MoreThanFire #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #PreparedForAnything
