24.01.2022 EMERGENCY WARNING - Postmans Trail (Bega Valley LGA) Fire activity is increasing as conditions deteriorate. 22.01.2022 COVID - 19 UPDATE There are a few changes that have taken place with the way Fire and Rescue NSW operates that you might notice. We hope you understand and can help us through the next few weeks.... Some if the changes include: We are cancelling all non essential community engagements so we won't be able to visit your school or childcare centre to pass on fire safety messages for a while. If you visit a fire station for any non life threatening issues we are not going to be able to let you in. You may notice fire trucks at emergencies with fire fighters sitting inside. We are minimising the amount of fire fighters contact with the community. If you see us sitting in our fire trucks and not getting out this is not us being rude. Feel free to give us a wave from a distance we'll still wave back. We wont be able to show your kids our fire truck and let them sit in it for a while. And unfortunatly we won't be able to shake you hands for a while. Behind the scenes we are doing a lot of hard work to continously decontaminate our trucks, uniforms and fire stations to ensure us and our community are protected. Thanks for the support we could not do this without everyones support. #covid-19

09.01.2022 Severe fire danger is forecast across south eastern NSW and the ACT for Saturday. Under these conditions, a number of fires will spread and may threaten properties. Embers may be blown ahead of fires and could start spot fires. This map shows the potential spread of fire.... The dark red areas show locations where fire may spread. If you’re in one of these areas, you may be impacted by fire. If your plan is to leave, leave early and avoid being in these areas during the heat of the day. The red dotted area shows locations which may experience embers. These may be blown from fires which are currently contained, or from fires as they spread. Watch out for spot fires and be ready to take action. If you choose to stay and are impacted by fire, you may not be able to leave. If you’re in one of these areas: - Check your bush fire survival plan. Know what you will do if the fire threatens your area. - Make final property preparations now. - Leaving early is your safest option. Don’t wait until it’s too late, as roads may be impacted.
