25.01.2022 We’ve been busy enough, don’t make it harder for us! Conducting your own private fireworks display this New Years Eve, though it’s may seem fun, could lead to h...eavy fines or even jail time. A total fire ban is in place for New Years Eve and the penalties for disobeying them are severe: $2,200 on the spot fine; if the matter goes to court a fine of up to $5,500 and/or 12 months gaol; and if a fire that escapes and damages and destroys life, property or the environment can attract fines up to $132,000 and/or 14 years gaol. It’s just not worth it!

13.01.2022 Fire & Rescue NSW crews including firefighters from 503 Wollongong Fire Station were deployed to Eden to assist in the extinguishment of the Eden wood chip fire.... Crews from Strike team Romeo utilised the Hytrans to pump sea water to 2 fire appliances which in turn supplied water to 2 ground monitors as well as supplying water to the TAF20, a remotely controlled turbo aided firefighting robot. The wood chip pile was constantly dispersed by heavy plant dozers so as to assist in water cooling the extensive piles of wood chip. Crews worked throughout the day also monitoring any runoff into Twofold Bay and will return tomorrow to continue to extinguish the fire, which will be an extremely long and protracted incident.
