19.01.2022 Today marks May 4th, for some its Star Wars Day, for firefighters around the world today is St Florian’s Day. A day named for the patron saint of firefighters. Today we celebrate those who dedicate each day to protect you, the irreplaceable. St. Florian was a patron from Noricum, Rome in 300 AD, who was said to be one of the first commanding fire fighters of an actual battalion. ... As legend states, St. Florian saved an entire village engulfed in flames using just a single bucket of water. Legend also states, because of this act St. Florian is known as the protector of those who have come in danger of fire. The duties St. Florian performed for his province are the same duties that fire fighters around the world perform every daywith the same dedication and braveries Imagine credit Fire and Rescue NSW Station 036 Crows Nest Fire and Rescue NSW #StFloriansDay #maythe4thbewithyou #frnsw #fireandrescuensw #protecttheirreplaceable #Preparedforanything

17.01.2022 INCIDENT ALERT Another busy day, and another night some Freshwater residents are without power. This evening Firefighters and Police attended this MVA,... luckily no one was hurt, however it brought the power pole/lines down. Firefighters used barrier tape to make an exclusion zone around the LIVE wires that can be extremely dangerous if within 8 meters and worked with Police to ensure the area was safe. Energy crews are enroute to fix the power pole and hopefully restore power to the street. Drive safely, mask up and stay home The Manly Daily Fire and Rescue NSW Manly Observer Northern Beaches News

09.01.2022 FOLLOW UP ON LUCKY THE LIZARD. It was nearly a year ago that we brought you the uplifting story of lucky the lizard whom sadly drowned in a pool skimmer box but... was resuscitated using heart compression by one of Gordon’s off duty firefighters. Lucky regained conciseness and lived to eat more snails from the garden for another day. It was by far our most popular post and received feedback and news stories from every part of the world. If you haven’t seen Lucky’s extraordinary rescue here’s a link to the original video. https://www.facebook.com/gordonfirestation/videos/2538910213013375/?vh=e We were fortunate enough to receive an update on lucky. His a little older a little bigger and hopefully a little wiser when playing in the water. Anyway enjoy a video of Lucky chowing into one of his favourite things, raspberries. Luckys happy story also serves as a timely reminder to watch little ones in and around the water. Practice your resuscitation plan and always be aware of hazards (seen and unseen) in and around the water. Also never ever enter flood waters.
