25.01.2022 The kids from Parkes must have been good. What about the othe stations in regional NSW? Has Santa visited you?

25.01.2022 Good summary from a crew who venture all over the State in times of crisis.

24.01.2022 Fire & Rescue NSW Dubbo firefighters have asked local butchers to help spread fire safety information. Unatended cooking is the most common cause of home fires ...in Dubbo. We have supplied local butchers Bamboo Spatulas with fire safety message on them to hand out. We hope this will help remind people to Keep Looking When Cooking, avoiding kitchen fire catastrophies. We are also encouraging residents to get in touch with us to organise a Home Fire Safety Visit. See more

24.01.2022 Just because we can’t physically have an Open Day doesn’t mean we can’ Show you the great work our Firefighters do.

22.01.2022 Drill idea from the Cobar crew, great stuff

21.01.2022 Santa has phoned the station and requested we take him on a trip around town on Monday the 21st. He will be checking up on all the good boys and girls and will ...be throwing out lollies to those waiting in the streets but remember road safety and no playing on the roads . He will start his tour around 530. A map will be provided to show everyone where he can be sighted, Unfortunately with his busy schedule he cannot get to every street but he will try and catch as many people as possible. Please feel free to comment a street you would like to see him so it helps us to plan our route. Please share to spread the word as well.

19.01.2022 Around 2.30pm today 3 FRNSW fire engines from Dubbo and a number of RFS fire engines responded to a fast moving grass fire near Boothenba road. A gusty Westerly... wind quickly pushed the fire East making it hard for firefighters to contain. The fire is now under control with the RFS remaining on scene blacking out any hot spots. See more

17.01.2022 Acting Deputy Captain Viviana Conca and RFF Thomas Ringk , both of Parkes feature in this music video representing FRNSW firefighters. Thankfully for all they didn’t have to sing.

17.01.2022 We would like to give a warm welcome and congratulations to firefighter Natalie after completing her phase training earlier this month. Welcome to the 417 family!

16.01.2022 Great to see history being captured. The image on the new ammenities block in Cameron Park is that of the original Fire Station built adjacent to the old playgr...ound gates in 1901, taken from an original print. This Fire Station was in use until 1924 when the new Fire Station was built on the current site in Warne Street. The convict bell on the left of the image is the bell on the bell tower at the Warne Street site. The image also captures the original crew of firefighters and the manual hose reel that had to be pulled by the crew of firefighters to the scene of fire. The image of the 1926 flood shows the Fire Station location in the park. The Wellington Brigade is currently seeking people who would like to be part of Fire and Rescue NSW and contribute to the community like so many people have done over the past 119 years. To meet the current Station needs we are interested in hearing from people that can provide daytime availability. If you want to find out more of what is required to become an on call firefighter an information stand will be set up at the Rotary Markets this Saturday 28th November on the site of the original Fire Station in Cameron Park.

16.01.2022 May 4th is International Firefighters Day & also the feast day of St Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters. St Florian was the first known Commande...r of one Firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which Firefighters all over the world share even today. Happy International Firefighters Day & to Firefighters everywhere stay safe! Pete Learmonth

14.01.2022 Come behind the scenes and learn what it takes to be Prepared for Anything as our first recruit class of the year is put through their paces at the Fire and Res...cue NSW Emergency Services Academy. This week Recruit Firefighter Lauren Fuller tells us about what recruits learn in the first weeks of training. The highlight? Learning to roll and bowl hose.

14.01.2022 Here are some of our members from Gilgandra, Dubbo and Warren working hard along side RFS and ADF crews up in Port Macquarie. They are heading home today after 5 days out in the field. Well Done everyone from all organisations!

13.01.2022 WE TRAIN TO GET IT RIGHT | Regional Trainers work throughout NSW to deliver On Call and Career staff training in a range of skills so that we are #PreparedForAn...ything. SFF Scott Habgood, Regional Trainer for Region West 1 was recently at Parkes to deliver Road Crash Rescue (RCR) Training. Road Crash Rescue training ensures we are ready and able to assist Primary Rescue agencies at motor vehicle accidents. Training provides firefighters the ability to demonstrate and practice teamwork, communication, and mechanical reasoning to achieve a goal. Over the 4th to 6th September, 5 firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 417 Parkes and 419 Station Peak Hill participated in this training to increase their skills. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

13.01.2022 It may be blue skies now but with flooding expected crews are assisting NSW SES in Walgett and Collarenebri to prepare the community for potential flooding over the weekend.

11.01.2022 Here is one of our busy City Stations

10.01.2022 Our Coonamble Station has had a very busy 24 hours attending two house fires.

09.01.2022 Just after shift change this morning, firefighters responded to a house fire with the possibility of persons inside the house in East Dubbo. Firefighters search...ed the house, confirming no one was inside, as well as extinguishing the fire. The house has been considerably damaged by fire. The occupant was alerted by a smoke alarm which enabled her to evacuate the building with several children. There were no injuries reported. Firefighters are encouraging everyone to check smoke alarms regularly to ensure they are working. Consider a Home Fire safety Visit from firefighters if you would like to discuss how to best prevent a fire in your home. In an emergency dial triple zero. See more

07.01.2022 Tonight at drill we talked about dust and silo fires. There are many dangers associated with these sorts of fires. With many bulk storage facilities around it i...s crucial that our crews know exactly what to do to ensure these incidents do not escalate and to maintain the safety of our crew and the general public. The crew at 417 are constantly refreshing and increasing their knowledge base so they are prepared for anything.

07.01.2022 Last night crews from Gilgandra, Dubbo and Delroy along with the RFS dealt with a fuel tanker that caught fire near Mendooran. Once the fire was out crews found one compartmeant leaking Diesel. The spill was stopped then all the 45,000 litres of fuel needed to be transferred to another truck. The incident started just before 8pm and was made safe by 8am this morning. Well done to all crews braving the cold wet weather.

06.01.2022 Many firefighters across RW1 may have come in to contact with Mark in his role as CEO with the Museum of Fire. A lot of knowledge and passion about the history of the Fire Brigades has been lost.

06.01.2022 COBAR WASTE DISPOSAL CENTRE FIRE 11:30am: From Cobar Shire Council: Cobar’s Land Fill (tip) is currently CLOSED and council request that all residents refrai...n from visiting the site until further notice. Emergency Services are currently at the site managing the situation. Cobar Shire Council will update as the need arises. 7am: A major fire has engulfed part of Cobar's tip. 06.01.2022 Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps Estimated to be the oldest man-made structures on Earth Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps About 90 kms east of Bourke NSW there ...has been an Aboriginal presence in the town that is known today as Brewarrina for over 40,000 years, extraordinarily there remains evidence of this on the Barwon River in the form of ancient stone fish traps. the oldest man made structures that exists on Earth, these stone fish traps are reportedly evidence of engineering skill, knowledge of river hydrology & fish biology, ask 10 different people what they think is the oldest surviving manmade structure on earth and chances are you will get 10 different answers. The pyramids of Egypt or Central America? Not even close. Stonehenge? A relative newcomer. The Neolithic farmhouses of the Orkney Islands, or the megalithic tombs of France? At 7,000 years of age, the oldest of these barely registers alongside the granddaddy of them allthe Ngunnhu fish traps of Brewarrina. http://nationalunitygovernment.org//ancient-site-australia http://www.environment.gov.au/heritage//national/brewarrina https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//viewattractiondetail.a See more

05.01.2022 Thanks to the team at Gulgong for getting this underway. Damien Jordan is the Deputy Captain at Gilgandra. You may have come across him as he toiled away at the bushfires this year. You also may have seen his name mentioned as the highest fundraiser at the annual Stair Climb. Please get behind this and support where you can

04.01.2022 Former 280 Station Commander and RW1 Duty Commander, Deputy Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell was recognised in the Australia Day Honours with an AFSM.

04.01.2022 Crews from Dubbo and Delroy are currently conducting Safety Visits in Brisbane St Dubbo. In response to a nasty house fire 2 weeks ago the firefighters identified it would be good to remind neighbours of the importance of fire safety, provide some new 10 year photoelectric smoke alarms and check the odd hydrant along the way.

04.01.2022 Pass this around. Great opportunity going ahead in Brewarrina as part of the Girls on Fire program. Follow the link on the attached or get in touch with Burra Mac at Brewarrina for a bit of detail.
