13.01.2022 We are hopefully getting closer to a resumption of junior sports something we are no doubt looking forward to after many weeks of minimal sports activities! Basketball Victoria has released a comprehensive Return to Sports Guideline which can be found here: https://mcusercontent.com//BV_2020_ReturnToSport_Guideline We will continue to stay tuned to updates on when training and games can resume and notify teams as soon as we have further news.

13.01.2022 Basketball Victoria has further updates relating to domestic basketball and representative leagues, programs and events including VJBL, Big V and Country Champi...onships. Due to Stage 3 restrictions and the extension of the State of Emergency (until 11 May) by the Victorian Government, the Autumn and Winter 2020 domestic basketball seasons are suspended until at least 31 May 2020. This date is being regularly reviewed and updated. Our primary concern remains the health and wellbeing of the basketball community and the return of grass-roots basketball when it is deemed safe and appropriate. With these two principles in mind, both Big V and VJBL have been postponed until 31 May with the next update set for 11 May. As previously announced, the NBL1 2020 season is cancelled. We hope to reschedule Country Championships, Under-14 Skills Days and Regional Academy where possible. At this stage they are postponed until 31 May with the next update set for 11 May. 07.01.2022 Dear Members, With the Government imposed six-week lock down for metropolitan Melbourne, WBA has suspended all basketball-related activities from Wednesday the ...8th of July until further notice. Unfortunately, this means that the Winter 2020 season for both Junior and Senior domestic competitions has now been officially cancelled. Following this, Basketball Victoria has announced cancellation of the VJBL and BIG V representative competitions for 2020 in the interest of public health and well-being. As announced prior, the NBL1 season has also been cancelled. We understand that these decisions will bring great disappointment across our community and we share this disappointment with you. However, the health, safety and well-being of WBA members and the greater community remains as our top priority. We will return from this time away bigger and better as we combine forces with the Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Five brand new courts will be included as part of WBA’s Summer competition. 04.01.2022 Dear Members, As of 5.00 pm today, the Waverley Basketball Association will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus. Until further notice, all junior and senior bas...ketball domestic competitions are suspended, as well as all training, extra programs and casual shooting. As per Basketball Victoria’s instructions the following competitions will also be suspended; VJBL and Big V. Please refer to the Basketball Victoria website for further information. WBA will continue to update its members on any further actions and instructions via our website and social media to ensure everyone is kept up to date. WBA has not received any confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus from any of its members, the decision to close is simply a preventative measure. As WBA semi finals will not be conducted this weekend, the Summer 19/20 finals series will not be commencing and the season has now officially finished.
