Take a listen to see why Lara loves growing her produce from seed. PROJECT #3 Plant seedlings in newspaper pots... Step 1: Take your newly created newspaper pots and fill with well-draining potting mix Step 2: With a skinny stick or pencil, press into the soil to create a narrow pocket for the seedling to be planted into (Allow 3-4 germinated seedlings per pot) Step 3: Gently pull your germinated seedlings from their strawberry container greenhouses and place into narrow pocket in newspaper pot. Step 4: Once all seedlings are planted, spray gently with water (water seedlings lightly every 1-2days) Step 5: You are now on your way to growing healthy, strong tube stock to later plant into your veggie patch! As restrictions begin to lift, lets take this them to explore our surroundings. Wherever you are in Australia, in the city or the outback, dust off your boots, get outside and soak up the outdoors. 01.01.2022 The final project of our 4-stage FP2P #growyourownathome project is here With help from our From Paddock to Plate vegetable grower, Lara, your seedlings are now ready to be planted into their final home PROJECT #4... Plant seedlings in the vegetable garden Step 1: Gather your newspaper pot seedlings and prepare vegetable bed for planting by creating a shallow 3-5cm trench in your vegetable bed/large pot soil. (Listen for tips on developing quality soil from Lara) Step 2: Gently tip the newspaper pot upside down, allowing soil clump to slide out of pot. Gently sift through soil and separate seedlings from soil clump, keeping roots in tact. Step 3: Place each seedling of the same type into the shallow trench 5cm apart. Cover roots with soil. They will lay on an angle, but seedlings will stand up straight as they establish. Gently water in and keep moist. Congratulations you have now completed all the steps to #growyourownathome - in 6-10 weeks you will have healthy, fresh produce to harvest!
