24.01.2022 As many of our followers and clients are aware, new restrictions were handed down by the QLD Govt late evening of the 30th. FSP Youth & Disabilities is taking a proactive approach and response to the potential second wave of restrictions that may come into affect with our amazing staff taking precautions during their shifts and in their personal lives to ensure the safety of clients and their families, as well as and family and friends of their own. A notice will be issued to... all clients, support coordinators and plan managers with regards to our plans for what may be on the horizon to ensure transparency in our support continuity model going forward. We will continue to accept new clients for our daily support and Short Term Accommodation services with some changes to how this may look. Changes are also in effect as of midnight tonight for any new staff where a negative COVID-19 test result MUST be produced before staff are permitted to commence work. As always stay safe and take precautions, we thoroughly enjoy spring your needs in any climate that our surroundings place before us, we look forward to continuing to do just that. See more

22.01.2022 With a heavy heart we have to announce that our vacation care program will not be able to go ahead at the catalyst church. Unfortunately many families pulled out of the program which in turn made it non viable for a 3rd party venue. We are still hosting a handful of the wonderful children whos families are excited to get them involved in a therapeutic respite program. Were looking forward to hosting their holiday adventures :)

19.01.2022 We have secured a venue! Unfortunately riverlife church in 17 Mile Rocks was not an available option for both price and availability for the needs of our participating families. However the Catalyst Evangelical Church in Brassall has been accommodating for our needs including a shower facility to assist with any continence issues that may arise. They have wonderfully accepted us and are more than happy to assist in meeting the needs of those we are supporting these holidays. ...Presently the only uncertainty that we have is our time between Christmas and New Years Days however this can be confirmed by Wednesday next week when the coordinator becomes available to make a decision around that. That said with this news, for those requiring assistance with transport given the location, we are happy to assist in this area! What we need now is our final confirmation of numbers to get paperwork ready along with service agreements and so on. For this we need the following; Email address Parent/Guardian full name Child/Ren full name/s Date of birth List of needs (personal care, MOSS working ratio, behaviours, food preferences, allergies) In the event of anaphylaxis we require an EpiPen to be sent with those who require it AND the prescription to purchase a replacement if it were to be required in an anaphylaxis emergency arising. While we will take EVERY effort to eliminate this risk we do not want to take any chances and this allows us to be better prepared to respond to emergency needs. PBSP where applicable Medication List and medications (these will need to be Webster packed or similar with back-up doses in the event of medication refusal) What you will receive from us; Company registration certificate Business name registration certificate Insurance Certificate of Currency All policies and processes Tailored service agreement (this will include outside school hours care program to account for upcoming negotiations with MOSS around this arrangement.) There is a small set up fee which covers the venue cost, this will be calculated when numbers are confirmed so it can be brought to its lowest point possible. A daily group activity fee applies to cover catering, activity costs such a pool outings which accounts for entry fees and transport. A direct support fee relevant to the needs ratio of the child, this is a sliding scale and once your child settles should the needs ratio reduce it will slide down to the lower cost immediately and you will be informed of this in writing to ensure it reflects the services delivered and not only those outlined in your service agreement. 15.01.2022 We have less than 10 spaces available, so just a reminder to get service agreements signed dated and returned please. Because we are a small operation with a small group of children attending we do need our service agreements returned and initial invoices underway. With this being time sensitive for everyone involved, the sooner the better. Without the confirmed numbers we will be forced to cancel the operation due to the overhead costs of venue and staff. We would hate t...o have to cancel this holiday activity especially this close to the holidays. However We will still be looking to establish and outside school hours care program for MOSS students irrespective of the vacation care program. Please do return documentation ASAP as we need this to be able to take our next steps forward. With such small numbers we may be able to to in community supports over the holiday period in place of a venue based vacation care program, depending on committed interest. See more

13.01.2022 FSP Youth & Disabilities is hosting a vacation care program for children living with a disability who are 17 & below. We have 15 SPACES REMAINING, get in touch to secure your place now. We have confirmed our venue to be Catalyst Evangelical Church for this holiday period, due to many schools undergoing construction and maintenance we are not able to use these facilities this time around.... This is a program we would love to continue each holiday period and are looking into options for outside school hours care also. Food is provided catered to the needs and preferences of the children attending this includes their personal preference and especially any allergies. 2:1&1:1 through to 1:4 needs levels are all welcome, including all mobility levels. While this is targeted for school ages, we can take some younger children into the program also and are happy to give parents that bit of respite. Younger children will need to have a shorter day with us simply to ensure we minimise any emotional strain for them being away from family for the day as this can be quite distressing for younger children. We are including theraplay to develop emotional regulation and healthy self expression of the children involved in our program. We would also be looking to include half day trips to pools, parks, zoo (weather permitting for rain, smoke volume and temperature), interests and behaviours accounted for we may be able to take trips to the science Centre to enjoy its interactive features, crafts for some handmade decorations and more. We are culturally sensitive and will do our best to account for culture, religion, personal identity and the needs that are part of this including food, prayer, activities and any other needs we can be informed of by families. Were fully insured, experienced, genuine care and supports and were here to help and provide wonderful memories for the Christmas break along with all deserved respite for families. NDIS preferred, EFTPOS will be available. All services invoiced and will run under a service agreement.

Then come along to this Parents session on Anxiety and emotional control in children with Karen Young on Saturday 23 November at Centenary Tavern.... Karen will be covering the topic of Anxiety in children and teens and Building Self-Control and Emotional Regulation in Children . Shell be providing strategies for what parents can do to support their children and help them manage their anxiety. Karen has worked as a psychologist in private practice and in educational and organisational settings. She is the author of "Hey Warrior" and "Hey Awesome", two great books written for children to help them understand their anxiety and help them find their brave. 03.01.2022 With a lot of regret, after discussions with our insurers we have been advised that we must cancel our vacation care program for the holiday period in light of the announcement of a Pandemic Status for Corona Virus. The risk profile of community gathering and engagement is considered to be too high at this stage, we are happy to provide in-home support to families in need during this time.
