25.01.2022 FRCC riders bag 5 GOLD, 2 SILVER and 2 BRONZE at National Virtual Track Challenge.
25.01.2022 FRCC State Time Trial Championships Deloraine was the place to be today with an absolutely glorious day, no wind and over 30 juniors racing from u11 to u19. Our riders put out some incredible rides today.... First up was youngest Alex Eaves in the u15 finishing 3rd by 35sec after having his chain fall off twice and having to get off to put it back on. Next was Mia Brown in her first TT in u17s. Mia was 2nd rider off and put in a very strong and impressive ride to take out the Gold by 42sec. I think Dad was more excited probably even envious Our u17 boys were next with Will Eaves 2nd rider off then Sam McKee 3rd rider. Sam was out on his new Trek and finished 6th 1min53 behind the winner and Will finishing an agonising 4th by 1sec to being 3rd and 51sec behind winner in a great finish. Catelyn also claimed Gold in the u19s. Such great results today and once again am very proud of everyone’s achievements today
25.01.2022 FRCC welcomes Emily Butcher In 2008 Emily was introduced to cycling after being selected in the TIS Talent Identification Development program as a sprinter. Emily returns to cycling following marriage to her husband Adam and the birth of her 2 children to see how far she can go in a sport that she enjoys. Emily has been training regularly at the Silverdome and recently returned to competition in her first race on Sunday in the Virtual Track Challenge.... It is fantastic to have Emily join us to reach her potential in her favoured discipline on the track. (Photo: Emily in 2010 - and - Emily today) See more
23.01.2022 Burnie Track Carnival There were more sizzling performances than the weather today across the junior fields in Burnie. Oscar was looking strong and finishing well in Kierin and 1000m handicap.... Emily had a few challenges with her bike today but had the ride of the day riding on a wheel that didn’t move. Sam and Alex battled it out today in u17s with Alex taking some good placings and Sam taking 3rd in the wheel. Our #1 supporter at the moment is Mia who is busting to get out amongst it. she can get out and about soon.
20.01.2022 Junior State Road Titles A windy but dry day for our riders contesting the junior state ride titles today and with some fantastic results. U17 boys were first off with only 5 riders contesting the event it wasn’t long into the race before a breakaway with Sam and Will missing the attack. With 3 laps to go the gap grew then a rider went down on a corner. Will kicked early in the sprint to the finish 4th just behind Sam in 3rd.... In the u17 girls a field of 5 started with Mia hoping to apply some of her new learnings. With only 3 laps to race the girls all stayed together with some attacks on the hills coming to a sprint finish. Mia rode strong to take the line honours. In a great field of u15 boys and 2 laps Alex broke away with a lap to go and soloed home to take a great win. Great rides by our riders today in tough conditions.
20.01.2022 Tasmanian Track Carnivals a hit at George Town Perfect conditions for track racing at George Town today with no wind, humid conditions and an abundance of quick riders. Our riders today were spread between u17, seniors and women! Sam McKee stole the show today with impressive wins in the heart starter, 1000, keirin and a narrow 2nd in the wheel. ... Alex Eaves raced his first u17 race coming 2nd in the scratch, 3rd in the 1000m and 2nd in the motor paced scratch. Will Eaves now competing in A grade seniors put in solid rides in all his races and finished with 4th in scratch race. Emily Butcher our lady who last raced as a junior with the Talent ID Program had a great day. Emily won the 1000m handicap, wheel race, keirin, and 2nd in the scratch race in her fantastic return to cycling. Mia was out with injury but is expected to return in the coming weeks. It’s absolutely fantastic to see our riders hard work paying off in time for the carnival season. Well done team
19.01.2022 It’s testing time for our brothers. Alex was encouraged by big brother Will to go first and warm up the watt bike. Not much out of Alex after his first FTP test but put in a very impressive effort. After watching Alex go through what looked like a lot of pain and suffering Will punched out 4 figures in his max effort test and a solid FTP test.
18.01.2022 FRCC would like to take the opportunity to thank our supporters in particular #bicyclecentreburnie for providing our riders with head to toe cycling gear to keep us safe on the road and keeping our equipment in good order. If you are looking for new bike equipment Brendan Spurr will sort you out. After these tough days racing it’s always great to have a massage to relax and kneed out those sore spots, so we recommend contacting Bronwyn at Realign Remedial Massage in Launceston.
18.01.2022 Weather threatened our first MVDCC Carnival today and to ensure we beat the rain and wind our riders put in some blistering rides. Sam and Alex were the only 2 riding in u17s today whilst Mia recovers from a back injury. Will and Oscar raced A grade seniors and Emily took the day to recover from a fall on the track Wednesday night. Alex took 2nd overall in the points across all u17 events.... Great results today by our riders before tomorrow’s round 1 of the National Junior Track Virtual Track Series.
16.01.2022 Yesterday was another of the Time Trial races. Super impressed with all riders doing exceptionally well. Will Eaves in u17 finished 1st and took 39sec off his time in the State Title event. Brother Alex in u15 also took the win and improved by 1min20sec. Sam McKee improved by 28sec and Mia road solo to take the win in u17 girls.... It’s great to see our riders improving and enjoying it. Catelyn also put in a solid performance taking out the u19 girls TT.
15.01.2022 State Senior Time Trial Championships Out on the bike this weekend competing in his first senior TT event was Oscar Varney. It was great to see Oscar out on course. Oscar finished 6th behind some very good competition. Good effort.

10.01.2022 New Kids on the Block A great weekend of racing and training. A new Time Trial course and some great new performances. Alex had an amazing race in the u15 TT taking out the win whilst brother Will took a very close second in the u17 TT.... Mia kept up her strong form taking the win in u17 girls. Another great result was seeing Oscar Varney return to the racing scene taking out the C grade men’s time trial. Our riders backed up yesterday’s racing with a few solid laps around the state road course in a cool but spectacular day with a few interesting scenes along they way.
07.01.2022 2020 u19/Elite Track Nationals - Brisbane Will Eaves is attending his first track nationals 11 months after being selected in the 2020 Tasmanian junior track team but now as an u19. Will has been continually improving over the Covid months and was recently selected in the Tasmanian u19/Elite track team to attend the track nationals in Brisbane. Will was part of the u17 gold medal winning team pursuit at the National Virtual Track Challenge in October and also part of the strong u19 team pursuit in early December. Today he will be competing in the Open Team Pursuit with Josh Duffy, Jack Menzies and Dalton Stretton. Good luck Will and enjoy the experiences over the next week.
04.01.2022 Sam McKee pulls off his biggest race prize in senior road race 2 weeks ago Sam finished in a sprint for 2nd in the Deloraine to Launceston behind Campbell Palmer, this week after moving up to C grade the tables were turned with Sam taking up the largest club road race prize money thanks to Shaw Contacting in the Railton 40 and Campbell 2nd. The juniors were said to be setting the pace and positioning well and all deserving the win and placings. ... Other great rides went to Will Eaves finishing in a very close 4th and Mia Brown riding well but succumbed to injury during the race. Alex Eaves finished 2nd on handicap in a sprint to the line. A very rewarding day for our juniors
