22.01.2022 Following the Premier’s announcement, on Friday 20 November, on the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we are pleased to say that we will reopen on Tuesday 24 November. 11.01.2022 This week (8-15 November) is NAIDOC week and the City of Unley acknowledges the significance of this event for our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme "Always Was, Always Will Be" recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. The National NAIDOC Committee statement notes NAIDOC 2...020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures living on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. NAIDOC Week presents an important opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and celebrate their culture, past and present.
