23.01.2022 Very soon Eco-Challenge 2019 will air - actually this Friday! - pretty exciting for the sport and may very well usher a new era for adventure racing. There have been plenty of stories doing the rounds but this piece on how Kevin Hodder, Scott Flavelle and their teams built the course is a beauty. A lot goes into an AR course - it is more than just epic legs - there is a substantial overlay of logistics, risk management and for the case of Eco-Challenge camera angles. 22.01.2022 Another big event is cancelled - IM World Champs. There are still a few big events in Aus still promoting themselves as happening but I think the writing is on the wall. It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 editions of the IRONMAN World Championship and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. While we were hopeful that we could welcome our athletes, their families, and supporters to these events in early 2021, the continued impact of the pandemic makes this impossible. It is tough to make this decision in July, but it will provide the necessary clarity for our athletes, host cities and partners,

22.01.2022 This is a bit of late news but Ironman Aus rescheduled for Port Macquarie in September has been cancelled. There are a lot of big events that have Sept/Oct and Nov dates that will be watching how Victoria goes over the next 6 weeks very closely. The good news is the smaller events may be just fine. When we postponed IRONMAN Australia and 70.3 Port Macquarie from the original date of 3 May to 13 September 2020, we felt very confident we would still be able to deliver an except...ional event as planned. Unfortunately, due to reasons related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including the uncertainty over the duration and extent of international and domestic border restrictions and the potential impact on local community resources, we regret to advise that IRONMAN Australia cannot take place as planned on 13 September 2020. We share in the disappointment of this news as we love producing IRONMAN Australia as much as you love racing in it. All currently registered athletes have been sent an email from us today, and will receive a second email with more details on their options later this week. While we are prevented from holding the event in 2020, we are already looking forward to coming back stronger in 2021. The IRONMAN Australia team would like to thank you for your patience and support of the event in this challenging time.

13.01.2022 We are a bit bummed today as we had to make the call and cancel this years Wildside Adventure Race - not the easiest decision to make but with the high level of uncertainty at the moment we felt it best to make a decision early rather than hang on to the last minute. Just remember you don't need an adventure race as an excuse to get outside and explore - as the days get a little longer and warmer it is time to get outside - go for a ride, trek paddle, hike, climb, etc somewhere new - broaden your horizons. Wildside will be back next year so stay tuned.

Science is increasingly finding hard data that proves the value of the outdoors and being adventurous. but at the end of the day, we come out in nature not because the science says it does something to us, but because of how it makes us feel.
