24.01.2022 "Mel, I’m eternally grateful to you, THANK YOU for supporting my family & I, enduring the most difficult time in our lives, with the passing of our Mum/Nan. The photos you have captured are incredible, you captured our emotions through your lens. Your gentle & patient disposition was a godsend. Once again thank you Mel" ***********************************************************************... Receiving these beautiful messages reinforces the reason I do what I do and reminds me that through my own experiences both with grief and capturing these delicate moments, I can serve by providing comfort in a time of need and beyond through the lasting memory of photographs. 23.01.2022 It was such an honour to capture Mr Fortune’s funeral service and witness a gathering of the general public alongside the community of service men and women to honour one of their own. Thank you Senator Linda Reynolds for sharing one of my images.

18.01.2022 Such a beautiful piece, we really do need to talk and plan for death more. Imagine how much more at peace we could be at the end if we had a self-made guide to follow. Yes sure it doesn't always go to plan but having your wishes known and treating death with love and reverence is such a positive step in assisting the healing process for those left behind. We didn't know Dad was going to die when he did but we had a surprise 70th party for him 6 weeks prior where he got to see so many long lost and dear friends. The pre-death farewell party that you didn't know was goodbye - we could not have wished for more. https://modernloss.com/what-if-we-treated-death-like-birth/

14.01.2022 It was 7 years today that I lost my own beautiful Dad suddenly and unexpectedly to a heart attack. On this day I normally head down to his final resting place, his beloved ocean! Today was a little different... With the super talented, patient and compassionate Paul Drought at the lens, some of Dad’s nearest and dearest gave me their time to create a little video to explain what having lasting memories of ALL of his life - including his death and his funeral - means to them.... As his death was the catalyst for the development and inception of Funeral and End of Life Photography by Mel Noonan, it was only fitting that our little production transpired today. Stay tuned for the final product, but in the meantime a snippet of BTS! (Of course there was a little Rum at the end in his honour! RIP Dad xx)

14.01.2022 A huge thank you to Paul Drought from Parched Earth Productions for creating this video for me to tell you a little more about the 'Why' I believe that Funeral and End of Life Photography is so important

11.01.2022 And he’s done it again! The amazing Sean Wall from XCV DESIGN has exhibited his trademark high level of patience in dealing with all of my layout and design amendments to produce an outstanding result as always! Thank you so much Sean - the brochures and business cards are gorgeous.

09.01.2022 It’s so heartwarming when I receive photos of the next generation engrossed in a birth, death and in between, memorial photo book of a loved one #funerals #brisbanephotographer #family #death #memories #memorial #love #photos #brisbane #funeralphotosbrisbane #photobook

05.01.2022 The last few weeks has seen unprecedented change globally, impacting everyone in one way or another, including those of us who are generally sole traders in the Arts and Media industry and very much so those in the Funeral industry. Unfortunately families are having to farewell their loved ones with limited attendees and an inability to celebrate their lives in the ways many would like - surrounded by all those who cherished the deceased and would usually offer support to tho...se grieving the most. I truly believe that in these circumstances more than ever, having photographic memories to document this celebration of life will be instrumental in healing from loss in a time of such uncertainty and isolation. A keepsake to enable sharing of the nuances and moments of the service with not only those unable to be present, but also generations to come. I want to assure you that I am consistently monitoring the COVID-19 situation and Government recommendations to continue to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of both my family and customers alike and remain committed to this with increased preventative measures and by adhering to strict standards for hygiene and cleanliness. These include but are not limited to: * Additional cleaning and disinfecting of all equipment before and after each shoot * Using hand sanitiser before, during and after shoots * Offering the ability to pay electronically via instant bank transfer and/or by entering your credit card online via Paypal * Social distancing as per guidelines ensuring there is adequate space between myself and my customers through the use of longer lenses etc I continue to remain positive and firmly believe that by working together to adhere to Government guidelines, services that may be considered 'non-essential' to some, but instrumental to the future healing of others, will be able to continue to be proceed without presenting any risk to themselves or the greater community. If you are experiencing or facing loss and would like to chat about Funeral or End of Life photography in Brisbane, The Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and surrounds, please reach out via messenger or email [email protected]

05.01.2022 The gorgeous people I have been crossing paths with on this journey so far have been nothing but amazing and supportive. It is heartwarming to realise that there are so many people who recognise the need to remember the whole life, including the death and funeral, and understand just how comforting images that assist with these memories can be! My funeral photography travels took me far and wide last week and included funeral homes and celebrants alike.

03.01.2022 As much as we try and 'help' our friends and family navigate their grief, until we have experienced it ourselves it can be very difficult to understand the complexity of emotions involved. After losing Dad I realised that some of the things I had said to friends who were grieving their parents were probably not helpful at all. If you're struggling to find the 'right' thing to do for someone you love that needs grief support, have a look at this guide for some direction

01.01.2022 It was an incredible honour and privilege to capture the gathering of service men and women young and old alongside the local community to farewell ex British service man Brian Fortune. It was reported that Mr Fortune had no immediate family or next of kin, however, witnessing the outpouring of support at his celebration of life, it was apparent that his service to his country ensured his 'family' was far greater than he could have imagined. A huge thank you to Michael Hutch...inson Funerals and Ipswich RSL Sub Branch for arranging the service and inviting me to capture it. 01.01.2022 It is such a strange time in our collective lives right now with the uncertainty of Covid-19 and the restrictions that places on our day to day activities. In my opinion, there is no space more apparent and devastated by these limitations at the moment than the funeral industry. As we live in a time when those grieving can only do so with a handful of immediate family and only be physically comforted by those living under the same roof as them, I truly believe that having do...cumented images of the funeral, a viewing and all other important moments of this end of life ritual will be an intricate part of the healing process. It was my absolute honour to capture this 'Covid time' viewing and service for your beloved Mum M, and I sincerely hope that you and your family draw great comfort from them. If you or a friend or family member are experiencing the great loss of a loved one during these unprecedented times, please don't hesitate to get in touch to see how we can assist you with photographic memories.
