17.01.2022 So saw a beautiful bird on here made of CDs so had to have a go. I just love sparkly stuff!!! I’m happy with the result. I gave it to mum today to hang in her t...ree. She loved it! So many have asked how? So this is my version. The tutorial on YouTube is good too. Hi guys thanks so much for your lovely words. They’re relatively easy to make ... sort of! Here goes. You will need: *Fine chicken wire *Wire to manipulate *Thicker black wire ( feet & beak) *Glue - The best glue I found is Sellys liquid nails. It’s quick drying, strong and water/weather resistant *CDs & DVDs - up to 20 - per bird. separated (google how) separating stops splintering when cutting. 1. mould the basic bird shape from chicken wire. I secured the shape with wire and glue. 2. manipulate thicker black wire to make the feet and beak. Secure to body with glue and wire. 3. Mould a set of small wings out of chicken wire - about 1 inch depth each from the body. Secure to body with glue and wire. 4. CDs/DVDs - Once separated one side will be clear rainbow the other will be solid rainbow in one side. Cut lots of small triangles with one short edge. (Use the solid rainbow side for this) Cut long strips for tail feathers cut one end to a point. Cut long rounded shapes pointed on one end in various sizes for wings. Both using mostly clear with a few solid rainbow. 1. Start sticking the small triangles on the body from the top of the tail layering as you go towards the head. 2. Glue rounded shapes on to the wing and the strips on to the tail. 3. Hang with very large gauge fishing line. Hope this all makes sense!! I didn’t have a pattern I just did my version of the one I saw on here. So have a go and enjoy!! Good luck Thanks Leigh Williams!

14.01.2022 I've always had more than enough money to do what I want but this week for the first time in my life I had to borrow money from family to pay for my groceries. ... I did so with a lot of shame, as I'd just returned from a fancy holiday. Anyway I had $20 left as i searched for what we needed to go into lockdown. My son has chronic lung disease so we are going into hiding until the germ madness is over. He's grown a lot in the last few weeks and as the weather is getting colder I needed some warmer clothes for him. Realising $20 would only get maybe one outfit at target I went to the local church op shop. I got there just before 12 and the elderly lady behind the counter told me they were about to close. So I dashed in and found 1 pair of pants, 2 long sleeve shirts, and a really warm jacket. When I went to pay the lady said how about $1 for the lot? I absolutely lost it in tears! She must have seen the desperation in my face. I thanked her from the bottom of my heart... kindness brings so much healing to the world. UPDATE: thank you everyone for your generous offers but we’re honestly ok, was just a little tight this week while we were prepping to go into lockdown. I was so moved by how kind this lady had been that I needed to share on here. You’re all incredible souls and I’m deeply touched by your instantaneous offers of help but we are ok

12.01.2022 Thanks for the story!

12.01.2022 If it's good enough for a friend, it's good enough for an op shop! Here's some great suggestions of how to recycle clothes that are worn out or damaged.
