23.01.2022 A new code of practice and electrical safety regulations will commence next month to enhance safety in the growing commercial solar farm industry. The Construction and operation of solar farms Code of Practice 2019 comes into effect on 13 May 2019. Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said the code of practice, in conjunction with a new regulation, means mounting, locating, fixing and removal of solar panels at solar farms can only be undertaken by licensed electricians. Between 200315: - 142 workers died as a result of contact with electricity (an average of 11 workers each year)... - 87% (123) of these deaths happened when installing electrical infrastructure - almost half of worker deaths occurred in the construction industry. For Queenslanders the Evans Deakin name is synonymous with the Story Bridge. Dust containing respirable crystalline silica (RCS) is generated by high-energy processes such as cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling, polishing, scrabbling and crushing of s...ilica-containing materials. The Queensland Government released a new Code of Practice on 31 October - Managing respirable crystalline silica dust exposure in the stone bench top industry.
