25.01.2022 #repost @squat_university The fitness industry has been over-monetized & measures success by providing the athlete with things they WANT instead of what they NEED. Get a t-shirt, massage and a smoothie with every workout - because that's what athletes need to become elite? If you want to lift like the best in the world you NEED to have all the best gear & supplements. Right? . Our production based society has led us to re-arrange our athletic priories to think these thi...ngs are essential pieces to success. I’m not saying a nice pair of weightlifting shoes can’t be helpful for an athlete - but are they essential? I’ve seen plenty of amazing lifts put up on shoes that cost less than $100. As Louie Simmons says don’t have $100 shoes with a 10 cent squat. . It's rarely a special type of programming, pricy supplement or training tool that drives an athlete to become elite. Instead, it's a profound mastery of factors what many would consider basic: good nutrition, lots of sleep, and a commitment to getting into the gym & doing things the RIGHT WAY . Tag a friend below in the comments that needs this reminder _________________________________ This is the 1001st SquatUclub eligible post!! 24.01.2022 We all know we should be eating vitamins and minerals but not many know how much. Is there a gap between nutrient reference values vs nutrient intake in Australia? What are nutrient reference values? Nutrient reference values (NRV) are the recommended levels of intake of different nutrients, based on scientific evidence about food intake and health. The NRVs for Australia and New Zealand are expressed as a recommended daily intake (RDI) of each nutrient, which is the average amount of the nutrient that is required for the majority of healthy individuals. 23.01.2022 #repost @exerciseright_aus A new study from The Australian National University has found it may be possible to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's for people over 65 experiencing cognitive decline. Participants spent six months making positive changes in exercise, diet and brain training ... Group 1 made the changes with support of an Exercise Physiologist and dietitian. Group 2 made the changes independently after completing online training. Those who were given additional guidance from specialists (group 1) experienced a significantly lower risk of Alzheimers disease and improvement in cognitive abilities compared to those who werent given the extra support (group 2). What it shows is that if you give people that extra assistance, you can get the results that you need, said program creator and ANU PhD candidate Mitchell McMaster. 21.01.2022 #repost @tfc.australia Probably the most important mobility tip you can get #repost @optimize.physiotherapy ... Get comfortable on the ground . One of the easiest ways you can improve and maintain your mobility over time is to get on the ground regularly. . Spending time on the ground is something we all used to do as kids, but many of us gradually got away from it. It often turns into a very uncomfortable and unfamiliar place, but it doesnt have to be this way. . Sitting on the ground comes in many forms: Crosslegged Bear sit 9090 sit Butterfly sit Long sitting Straddle sit A mix of the above and more . Sitting on the ground will force you to explore some of these positions and keep you moving to the next position once you get uncomfortable. . By spending time on the floor, you will gradually become more comfortable. Your body will adapt to being there, a sign that your mobility is improving. . Getting up and down from the ground will get easier. Maneuvering on the ground from position to position will get easier. . Do this your entire life. #sitting #movement #mobility #stretch #stretching #fitness #fitfam #fit #strength #yoga #pilates #physio #physiotherapist #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #netflix #lifestyle #flexibility #training #tips #health #healthy #move #feelgood #exercise #education #daily See more
