23.01.2022 The girls have the right idea... lazy Saturdays are the best

22.01.2022 A parting word from Noeleen: Our journey started on Mother’s Day in 2000 when Stuart said we should build some guest cottages on this 260-acre property. It made sense; we are so close to town but also offer the peace and tranquility of the country. We researched and explored what others were offering, took a holiday in different types of accommodation and came back to design what we felt would suit this property and hopefully the many clients that would find us. Stuart star...ted the build in 2001 and by April 2002 Bluewren was open. By the end of the year Treecreeper Cottage was also complete. Well, move on 18 years and although the growth was slow at first, here we are with a very good client base. It has been an incredible, interesting, and fun journey along the way and it will be very sad to not see our regular clients again. All I worried about when Stuart wanted to do this was ‘how would I get a holiday?’ Well, now I am on holiday forever. Goodbye to all our wonderful clients and all the best to the new owners, Maggie & Ron and Vicky & Josh. Thank you to Noeleen & Stuart, we are honoured to continue the legacy of Gaddleen Grove Cottages.

20.01.2022 I love the cows I’m so sorry that it’s another cow pic. (What a fib! ) Since the cows have arrived, we’ve become all cow obsessed. Photographing them, filming them, one of us is even drawing them ... We promise to refocus and keep showing you all the great things happening here, not just the cows. Next week the chickens arrive ... should I apologise ahead of time for the forthcoming chicken spam?

20.01.2022 Thank you to our client that had all the excellent camera apparatus to take these pictures while staying in our Blue Wren Cottage at Gaddleen Grove Cottages - Wodonga this June 2017.

20.01.2022 Another short blast of Winter for a few days but it doesn't stop clients enjoying what we offer at Gaddleen Grove Cottages. Stay warm everyone - we will keep the fire burning for the next arrivals. Noeleen and Stuart at Gaddleen Grove Cottages - Wodonga, Victoria.

11.01.2022 Sunrise Over Wodonga. A new dawn coming. It’s been a challenge for us all in Victoria, we all have negotiated various restrictions- all of us enduring separation and feelings of limitations and fatigue. Our thoughts are particularly with those in stage 4 areas. ... Along with you all we await the ‘roadmap’ forward being announced on Sunday. To coincide with that announcement we will be also announcing a post COVID-19 restriction special. We hope the special allows you to plan ahead with hope and look forward to some rest, relaxation and rejuvenation with us on 240 acres, just 7kms from Wodonga CBD. You will feel like you’re in the heart of nature and your mind can stretch out as you shake off the fatigue of the restrictions. Hold on everyone, a new dawn is emerging and we look forward to hosting you soon. Warmest Regards, Vicky, Josh, Maggie & Ron

09.01.2022 - Ode To a Cow - Our cows are settling in, and they give hours of pondering pleasure. How glorious is this cow/sunset view with Wodonga in the background!?!... Cows are amazing animals, one of my favourite poems captures them perfectly. I urge you to spare a minute to read it because it will brighten your day! - Ode to Cow - When life seems one too many for you, Go and look at a Cow. When the futures black and the outlooks blue, Go and look at a Cow. For she does nothing but eat her food, and sleep in the meadows entirely nood, Refusing to fret or worry or brood, Because she doesn't know how. ... Whenever you're feeling bothered or sore, Go and look at a Cow, When everything else is a fearful bore, Go and look at a Cow. Observe her gentle and placid air, Her nonchalance and savoir faire, Her absolute freedom from every care, Her imperturbable brow. ... So when you're at the end of your wits, Go and look at a Cow Or when your nerves are frayed to bits, And wrinkles furrow your brow; She'll merely Moo in her gentle way, Switching her rudder as if to say: "Bother tomorrow! Let's Live today! Take the advice of a cow!" ... The Old Farmers Almanac - 1936 - . #cows #wodonga #gaddleengrovecottages #sunsetlover #alburywodonga #cowlove #poemoftheday

08.01.2022 Companion planting tomatoes It’s our first 2 little garden beds planted and settled. We have companion planted the 3 varieties of tomatoes with basil, marigolds and parsley. ... In a vegetable garden, companion planting is all about attracting beneficial insects (the natural predators of those not-so-beneficial garden pests, like aphids and caterpillars), encouraging growth, and optimising overall output. It’s a balancing act between providing the right setting for insects like beetles and ladybugs, and making the most out of a growing season. *Basil. Basil and tomatoes are soulmates on and off the plate. This vibrant, aromatic herb repels insects, specifically flies and hornworms, and is believed to improve yield. *Parsley. Parsley is another classic pairing: It boosts growth and attracts predators of the tomato hornworm, like ladybugs, but be sure to keep it well away from mint. Marigolds are particularly excellent companions for tomatoes. Marigolds have been shown to dispel root-knot nematodes, parasites that feed off of the nutrients in a tomato’s root system. Our next planting session will be in a week, we practise staggered planting so our yield too is staggered. The result is having the harvest spread out and we hopefully avoid being overwhelmed. (we still do get overwhelmed with produce ). Have you started your summer food garden yet? . . #gaddleengrovecottages #wodonga #alburywodonga #farmstayaustralia #companionplanting #tomatoeandbasil #growyourfood
