18.01.2022 This changes the way we assist with people handling a lot

12.01.2022 A great day two weeks ago delivering our Overhead hoist workshop for NSW Health through a HETI Grant. Participants learned how to prescribe, use and justify overhead hoists. Really humbled that over 50% of the participants gave us 10/10 for the workshop. Of those who didn't some great opportunities to continue to develop the workshop and we are working on them now.... If you are part of NSW Health and are interested in having one of our workshops in your area, reach out and we can support you to prepare a HETI grant application. Applications are closing soon. Book a time to talk with us here: calendly.com/aideengallagher

01.01.2022 I had the pleasure of doing an assessment last week and saw excellence in the care of people with disabilities. Two care givers completed the job is assisting a client with undressing and fitting a hoist sling by completing 1.5 rolls only. How were they able to do this?... 1. They involved the client. They took a team based approach. They all had the same goal of getting care done as efficiently as possible 2. They planned well. They figured out what they needed to do and then they planned how they would do it. 3. The aspired for efficiency. They recognised that rolling is a tough job for a care worker but it is also invasive on the client. The aspired to get a win win for everyone, a routine where rolling is only done when it is needed to. They knew that they only needed to do one roll to get the job done and they could do a slightly move to one side on the other side to adjust. In the care of people with disabilities we sometime as so used to the way we do it, we dont see the opportunities to make it more efficient. Efficiency is not about cutting corners, it is about aim for a quality routine for the client and the care worker.
