23.01.2022 Do you ever get the feeling you’re being watched? Gallifrey Shotgun keeping an eye on what’s going on.

22.01.2022 There are many reasons why people choose goats over cows for their dairy animal. Transportation is much easier, as you can transport a single goat in the back o...f a truck or van. Housing is simpler, as goats don't require as much space. Fewer jobs such as hoof trimmings need to be hired out or require team assistance. At breeding time, keeping bucks is easier than keeping bulls. There's no denying the pelleted feces of goats are way easier to manage than the pudding type feces of cows. Don't get me wrong, cows are great. Goats simply don't get the respect they deserve as a viable farm animal, though. See more

21.01.2022 What are they doing over there? Toggs keeping a watchful eye and making sure no one is getting any extra treats.

16.01.2022 Our First Sydney Royal with Gallifrey Dairy Goats. 2am on Tuesday 30th March, We took 6 of our Toggenburg does, down to the Sydney Royal Easter Show. The Goats themselves came home with Three 3rds over all. Gallifrey Amelia Pond placing in the 12 months and Under 3 Years Toggenburg Doe in Milk class,... Gallifrey Averytrix placing in the 18 months and under 24 months Toggenburg Goatling class and one of our Sires Progeny groups, consisting of Gallifrey River Echo & Gallifrey Jaala who represented their sire Down Udder Lucas. This was then followed by receiving Reserve Champion Junior Judge in the Dairy Goat section (after a reluctant entry, which took some convincing), along with the Gallifrey team receiving Champion Herdsman (Division A - up to 10 Pens) A wonderful show all over, with plenty of amazing goats and some great laughs! Congratulations and Thank you to all other Exhibitors and Handlers. #myeastershow

15.01.2022 Happy Easter from Gallifrey

14.01.2022 We are coming up on the season of selling many goats...milkers & kids especially. We all started somewhere and all of us were newbies at one time, so I wanted t...o send out this PSA to all newbies looking to get into dairy goats: 1. Dairy goats are one of the most labor intensive, intricate farm animals to raise. I've raised horses, cattle, dogs, most types of poultry, and sheep. I've even raised meat goats, and dairy goats barely compare. Please be prepared... physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, relationally, etc. 2. Have everything set up BEFORE you buy any goats. Housing, fencing, feeders, waterers, feed storage, milking equipment, etc. You will thank yourself later. 3. Have a flexible budget. Don't budget too tightly thinking you can squeeze those goats in. It won't work that way. You will find out you need a certain med, grain prices will go up, something will break, someone will get sick, etc. 4. Research, research, research. I can't say this enough. Books are nice and a good start, but make sure you befriend a few goat breeders who are willing to mentor you and you can view their facilities. You will be able to take note of things you may have forgotten to set up or you may learn some intricate nuances of balancing farm life with family life even. In that process, you may even find what breed you'd like to start with and which breeders you want to buy from. 5. Take your time. Do not impulse buy. Just don't. 99.99% of the time that will end in heartache for you and the goats won't fare well, either. We love working with newbies and feel like it's an opportunity to pay forward the favor that our mentors did for us many years ago. If you follow these simple rules, you'll be off to a great start. Happy goating :)
