25.01.2022 At Gamumbi (meaning ‘children’ in the local Gumbaynggirr language), we are dedicated to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum out of respect for our First Nations Peoples. We are currently in the process of completing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and one of the required actions is to fly or display the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. This week we were fortunate to have our flags poles installed just in time for N...AIDOC week. We are proud to be flying the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags at the front of Gamumbi for all to see. In flying the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags we are demonstrating pride and respect for the histories, cultures and contributions of Australia's First Peoples, promoting a sense of community partnership and showing our commitment toward reconciliation. Overheard in the playground: "Love it! Absolutely love it?! Makes me so proud!" -Parent "I'm painting the Aboriginal flag first because they were the First Peoples" -Dunggiirr Child NAIDOC WEEK 2020 - Always Was, Always Will Be.
