25.01.2022 As most of us are spending more time at home and less time socialising in the community due to COVID-19, it is important to still feel connection. Add a rainbow to your driveway, draw a picture to pop in your window and bring a smile to those who walk or drive past. Our Kinder children have been busy painting rainbows with water colours to give out to our Calleya community. Please feel free to take one for your home... #rainbowtrailaustralia See more

20.01.2022 What an incredible learning cycle our children experienced at Treeby. It all began with our little explorers showing great interest in the 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' book. Educators extended the children's interest by discussing a range of topics such as healthy food, colours, days of the week, and of course, by instigating wonder towards a caterpillar's life cycle. Therefore, Nido Treeby supported our children's learning by bringing real chrysalis (commonly known as cocoons)... into our service. At first, children seemed not so impressed by just a tiny green "piece" that did not move. But, then, to their surprise, the chrysalis gradually began to change. Educators guided our children on using magnifying glasses. They assisted them in observing the slight differences of the chrysalis and how, day-by-day, it began to show what was growing inside. You can only imagine the excitement of the children (and educators) when the first butterfly struggled her way out of the chrysalis. After patiently waiting two days for its wings to dry, it was time to release these magnificent creatures into the world. Children waved goodbye, some ran after the butterflies, and we all had a wide smile on our faces. How lucky we are for working with children and being educators. It was just a precious, unique moment to observe a child watching a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis for the very first time. It's an enormous pleasure to be part of such a passionate team. Well done, everyone!

20.01.2022 The Kinder children have been exploring the concept of self identity and expression of self through drawings and clay sculptures, during our Atelier Program time with Jing. The drawings were completed on either white canvas or blank paper, where children characterised their sense of uniqueness and individuality through the language of drawing. The children had questioned Who am I? within their social context and these canvases are a representation of each child as me.

12.01.2022 Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. It's about ensuring that the changes and choices an Australian child receives in their lifetime isn't dependent on their race. As Reconciliation Week 2020 is coming to an end we want to pay our respects to the custodians of the land (those past, present and future) who have looked after our country for over 8...00,000 years. At Nido Early School Treeby we acknowledge the Whudjuk Noongar people as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters in which we are situated today. Together as a team we will commit to working on developing our Reconciliation Action Plan. A RAP is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation that a school or early learning service can develop to extend on existing initiatives or to begin a new journey.

07.01.2022 Meet the Team My name is Naz and I am the Lead educator in Nursery Two. I have been in the industry nearly four years. What motivates you?... My dad was school principal and a teacher. My mom was my inspiration. Together, they taught me to always make positive difference in other people life whenever I can. Their love and education motivate me to bring the best for every child. What is your best childhood memory? I came from Mauritius, a multilingual island where we celebrate at least 11 festivals, Eid, Maha Shivratri, Divali, Holi, Thaipoosam cavadee, Chinese Spring Festival, Pilgrimage To Father Jacques Desire Laval and the list is long. My childhood was crazy fun and exciting with my siblings, cousins, neighbours and friends. As busy adventurers we would climbed trees, played in rivers, enjoyed nice sandy beaches and we were just busy enjoying life. What do you want people to know about Nido Treeby? Many teachers worked with love, passion and commitment achieving small objectives and aiming long term goals for the children. What is your philosophy in Early Childhood and Care? I believe in respecting every child as an individual and to extend their learning through their strengths, skills and abilities. I believe in empowering the children and in establishing nurturing and caring relationships with them. For me, the children are our future and I acknowledge working together with families and the community, we can achieve a promising future.

07.01.2022 As we remember this week, we invite you to share an Australian tradition with the little ones in the kitchen. These golden cookies are often the first recipe that a lot of Aussie kids learn to bake is the Anzac biscuit. An evolution from the original hardtack biscuit that became a staple for soldiers for centuries; the Anzac biscuit upholds the tradition of using ingredients that dont readily spoil. The simple melt, mix, shape, and bake nature of these cookies makes them pe...rfect for young hands. This week is about retelling history for the children at Nido Early School, and the Anzac biscuit is a symbol of the spirit and sacrifice of the soldiers who inspired the name. Lest we forget.

06.01.2022 On Friday we celebrated National Pyjama Day and helped raised funds for The Pyjama Foundation. Thank you to our wonderful families who dressed their children (and themsevles) in PJ's and donated money. Together we raised $111.90 which will help support children in foster care.

06.01.2022 Last Friday, Pamela Lam, a psychologist and one of our amazing mums, offered us a psychological perspective about challenging behaviours and tantrums. Parents could understand a bit more about themselves and how their own reactions (conscious or not) may affect a child's wellbeing. Nido Treeby values parents interactions, input, and feedback. We must work in partnership to achieve the best outcome for our children. Thank you so much, Pamela Lam and Prosper Health Collective, for providing us with such a memorable evening.

05.01.2022 Today we had a very special visit from the local veterinarian. She showed the chicken’s body parts, including its’ tongue and hidden ears. Children (and educators) seemed very impressed by its little tiny ear canal! Next, Toni, the amazing vet, explained where the chicken’s heart is located and demonstrated with a stethoscope how to listen to its heart beats. She named the different kind of feathers, and role-model kindness and empathy towards our fluffy treeby pets. Explori...ng, discovering, asking questions, touching, feeling, laughing, and simply enjoying the wonders of the world are the best part of being children. And, here, at Nido Treeby, we aim always to provide high-quality education and care. Thank you so much, Perth Pet Vet, for offering such amazing experience to our children.

02.01.2022 Did you know at Nido Early School Treeby we implement the ELLA program in our Kindergarten room delivered by two of our Early Childhood Teachers? ELLA is a digital, play-based language learning program for preschool children. This Australian Government initiative inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture. Our chosen language at Treeby is Chinese (Mandarin). The ELLA journey includes seven apps that focus on different topics. The apps were developed with language and early childhood professionals. This means they are fun to use and they also deliver on learning outcomes.
