16.01.2022 U16 Div 1 Girls shine in front of FBTV cameras The U16 Div 1 Girls were fired up to take on 2nd placed UQFC last Friday night under the lights with the Football Brisbane TV crew on hand to record the proceedings. They shot out of the blocks early and showed their class with two well-worked team goals in the first 25 mins. Both came from great passing and were finished off with tap-ins in front of goal. ... After that, it was a tough slog as UQ piled on the pressure in search of a way back into the game. UQ got a goal back before half time and it was a tough end-to-end game from then on. Great work from TGFC to keep the skillful, fast UQ girls at bay for the first 40 mins of the second half. Then great pressure to win the ball back in midfield created an opportunity which was brilliantly finished from distance to put The Gap up 3-1 and take the wind out of the sails of the UQ girls. A fantastic game played in good spirits by both teams with a great result on the road for The Gap. Highlights of the game are on the Football Brisbane YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgFFyOtbBXE

10.01.2022 Congratulations to our Women’s City 3 team who capped-off a wonderful undefeated season by securing the Premiership on Sunday 1 November with a thumping 9-0 victory over Westside Grovely. Their record this season of 11 wins and 3 draws from 14 matches is even more impressive considering that this is the team’s first season in senior football, there was no goalkeeper in the squad (12 different players wore the gloves), all bar one of the squad is under 18, and in fact, seven o...f them are still only 16 years old! Amazing stuff ladies, you played beautiful football and were a joy to watch, and well done to Andy (Coach) and Randall (Manager) in guiding them to success. Also, a very special thank you to the borrowed players, Nikita-Anne C (City 5); Alice W and Halayna G (City 4); Alice B and Eden C (U16 Girls), whose contributions were so important during the season, and to the many wonderful supporters who cheered the team on so passionately.

Yesterday our 15s Div 1 boys match was an amazing game to watch. Although my team lost 1-0 due to a lack of concentration goal in the first few minutes of the match, it kept me on my toes. My players said to me after the game they enjoyed every minute of the match and look forward to our next meeting. I've been coaching for six years in total and your team is the best I've come up against. Good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully you don't get promoted so we can have another game against you next year. This is why I love being a coach. The whole team can feel rightly proud to have received this message. The U16 Division 1 boys have had a challenging season so far, however, on Sunday got their first point on home soil for the season, well done. Below is a photograph of them celebrating together with Steve. Their first win is not far away.

01.01.2022 So the day finally came! The first win of the season for the girls U12 Div 1 Deadlies! What a game it was. The girls set a furious pace from the outset and everyone came to play with a huge effort across the park. The first half ended locked at 0-0 but The Gap peppered the Toowong goal and were unlucky not to the end the half ahead. The second half was a tense affair and Toowong came back at us hard. Ten minutes into the second half the unthinkable happened and Toowong was a...warded a penalty. Our super-star Willow S stood her ground and saved the penalty giving the team just the lift they needed! The girls kept the pressure on all the way through until finally a breakthrough in the 48th minute with Olive R scoring the only goal of the game! We are so proud of you all, super effort all round and now we know you can do it, lets do it again next week!
