24.01.2022 Gazanias loving the sunshine.

24.01.2022 Isn't this the most amazing Maple Tree? Seen at #Cloudehill in Olinda, this tree is always worth viewing but this year it seems to be outstanding during Autumn 2021. Just love it! I took a lot of photos when visiting there yesterday but this has to be the #topshot Hope you like it too.

23.01.2022 Another image from #cloudehill the other day. Such gorgeous #Autumn colour there right now. So many beautiful pathways, so many beautiful plants. This garden is fantastic and so worth visiting... often!

23.01.2022 I've been retired from my full time business as a Virtual Assistant for almost 6 weeks now and had hoped to get more into regular posting here but amazingly, so many other things have taken my attention. But today I decided to try my hand at more still life photography. Mainly because it's so wet and cold outside. This is a violet I was given by my daughter some time ago which has done well by a dining room window.

22.01.2022 This is a scene in our paddock garden, of Sedum Autumn Joy, Salvia Leucantha, gum trees and grasses and bushes, that I've turned into a water colour effect. The photo just leant itself to that style I thought. What do you think?

21.01.2022 My wonderful husband has built me a glasshouse! And it's now ready for use. I have a video at https://youtu.be/-Dna48aCl9I that you can watch. #glasshouse #greenhouse #inmygarden

20.01.2022 Visited a local reserve this morning, just to go look for orchids and I found some - quite a few of the Spider Orchid, plus found one of another type, and also a Nodding Greenhood. Amazing, tiny, fragile - easy to miss if you aren't keeping your eyes on the ground. #orchids

20.01.2022 And just like that, the flowers have opened. 3 days difference. Amazing. #inmygarden #freesias #springtime #inmygarden

19.01.2022 I'm writing a series on garden photography. I recently presented on this topic at a WA based garden festival online and it was well received. You'll find more on my blog too. This lady is my Grandmother - she taught me about the love of gardens and it is where my story begins.

19.01.2022 It was the Blue Banded Bee that got me on my current journey. My husband and I had only been in our new house in 2009 for a month or two when I noticed a solitary bee hanging around the Salvia outside our back door. It had an unusual hum and try as I might, I couldn't get a closer look to see what it was. I spent 3 weeks trying to get photos of it and finally succeeded, and therefore identifying what the bee was. A Blue-Banded Bee. I'd never heard of one before, let alone seen one. But I did find out about them and got very excited every time I heard one. It prompted me to try again, and again, to get better shots. To read the rest of the story, please visit my blog.

18.01.2022 I had the privilege of speaking at the Kalamunda Garden Festival today. Would you like to see the presentation? Check it out at https://www.facebook.com/KalamundaGarde//1735765396589588/

18.01.2022 I find the lotus flowers quite attractive - mostly they have their heads up to the sun. But this one was facing me instead. Taken at a distance. I always love visiting the @Blue_Lotus_Watergarden #lotusflower

18.01.2022 A mix of jonquils and tete a tete daffodils at the base of one of our bare liquidambers in the front garden. I plant bulbs around the two trees 3 or 4 years ago and they're gradually multiplying - always a delight to see in winter. #winterflowers #inmygarden #gardenimagery

17.01.2022 Been experimenting with closeups, with my long lens. Loving all the bees in our garden, in the Acer Negundo and Oak trees as they flower. Our Wisteria, the lavender, and tons of other plants and flowers. Got this shot yesterday. #bee #lavender #inmygarden

16.01.2022 Walked past our Weigela a short time ago in our garden and could hear it humming with bees. So I stopped, awhile, just to watch, and photograph, of course. With COVID lock down are you taking more notice of the nature around you? #honeybee #Australianspring #pinkflowers

14.01.2022 Spring is getting ready to burst here at home - just like these freesias just about to burst open. It's the last few days of winter but Spring is definitely lifting its head from slumber. #inmygarden #almostspring #freesias

13.01.2022 Our bulb walk has come to life at home. Iris, daffodils, grape hyacinths and others - the tulips aren't far away from opening as well.

12.01.2022 Will you be attending the Kalamunda Garden Festival at the end of this week? I'll be doing a presentation there about Garden Photography. You can find them at https://kalamnudagardenfestival.com.au - they have a lot going on!

12.01.2022 I learnt, the other day, that these tiny flowers are called Milkmaids. I saw them in the same area I saw the orchids recently. Their botanical name is Burchardia umbellata. It is very rare that you would see this plant in a nursery, but can be seen growing amongst grasses in swampy damp areas. #australiannatives #wildflowers

11.01.2022 So many butterflies around, a lot of the Yellow Admirals and Australian Painted Ladies. This is a Painted Lady on a seaside daisy in my garden. So pretty. #butterflies #springgarden #inmygarden

11.01.2022 Found this Prunella, a common medicinal plant, growing in our garden. It does spread like a weed but is pretty. Clearly the Cabbage Moth loves it. I've seen lots of it growing at the local lake and parkland too. #medicinalplant #cabbagemoth #inmygarden

10.01.2022 Love this amazing hydrangea at my daughter's place in Monbulk. It is huge and on the shady side of the house, i.e. gets morning sun only. It is stunning, don't you think?

10.01.2022 The Rhododendrons are looking amazing at the George Tindale Gardens.

09.01.2022 Saw this amazing little bee on a tiny seaside daisy flower head. No idea what the bee is but if you know, please do let me know. It was in our garden this afternoon. Nice to see - Spring is definitely around the corner. #inmygarden #Australiangarden

09.01.2022 On the last day of Winter I stood under our willow tree and expected to hear the hum of bees - the flowers were out. I was surprised it was so quiet. The next day, first day of Spring and there's this loud hum of bees. How do they tell what day it is? lol #lovethebees #inmygarden

08.01.2022 In the last part of my intro for this series, I have taken photos of other people's gardens. I've enjoyed this very much. It is both a privilege to get invited to do so, and a joy as well. Seeing what other people do in their gardens is both inspiring and educational. Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing about using your camera and how to get more out of it - be it a phone or digital camera. Read my blog for more details.

08.01.2022 Visited the @blue_lotus_watergarden a couple of days ago with my husband. Always love visiting there every year. So worth the visit if you're in Victoria, Australia. I've also been getting used to a new camera, the #NikonP950. Impressive hey?

07.01.2022 Spent a couple of days putting in a line of gazanias along our yellow and brown picket fence. Been meaning to do this for the past 2 years, ever since seeing them line the highway near Salt Creek in South Australia while on holiday. They look amazing, the bees are loving them and they've added so much colour to the front of our property. Looking forward to them growing and fully filling the spaces out there. #springflowers #gazanias #beehaven

07.01.2022 Enjoyed a walk around George Tindale Gardens yesterday, with a friend. So nice to get out, so nice to see a different place, so nice to be with a friend. Can't wait for lockdown to finish so I can explore gardens further afield. #dandenongranges #georgetindalegardens

07.01.2022 Australian Painted Lady Butterfly on the flower head of a spring onion. It's burst its sack, and the flower is exposing the seeds and pollen. At least, that's what I think is happening here. So much to learn still, about gardens! But thrilled with the shot. #australianbutterfly

07.01.2022 Now we've got longer daylight hours, and the days are slowly warming up, our girls are actively laying. We have 9 chooks, 7 breeds, have had 8 eggs laid in one day but pretty sure all 9 are laying based on the colours we get - as you can see. #fresheggs #homegrown #inmygarden

06.01.2022 I've begun adding a series of videos taken with a wildlife camera in our garden - mostly at one of our birdbaths. It's not only birds that visit. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC36v0dxdQKiCRYbECtuwuYg

05.01.2022 Went to the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens today - always worth visiting. This has to be my favourite shot for the day. Corymbia Ficifolia flowers with wasps enjoying the nectar. Taken with my new #Nikon #P950 which is proving to be an excellent camera for almost everything. #australiangarden

04.01.2022 Our driveway entrance is looking particularly pretty at the moment with the azaleas in flower - there are four or five but you can only see two of them here. #prettyinpink #inmygarden #springtime

02.01.2022 Loved these huge camelia heads with the sky in the background. A lovely combination of colour, don't you think? #georgetindalegardens #dandenongranges #camelias

02.01.2022 Today I look at more about using your camera to get more joy out of your garden. 01.01.2022 Another view of my friend's beautiful Autumn colour. An ornamental vine.
