20.01.2022 FRUITY CELEBRATION TIME COMMUNITY ORCHARD THANK YOU Garfield Community Shop ... GCG were successful in our application for a grant to purchase stone fruit trees to add to the awesome fruit trees already donated. A big THANK YOU shout out to @Brad Alden-Brown for donating the following trees & shrubs: rosemary, olives, lime, lemon & bay! WooHoo!!! Here's to the Garfield Community Orchard!!! In time there will be many more workshops. If you would like to run a workshop, please contact us. And... The garden has just been offered another water tank! Perfect to store more of the Winter/Autumn rains for the warm summers ahead. Thank you to the Garfield Community. We receive regular gifts of seeds, manure, tools etc. ...from little things.... wonderful Community grows.

18.01.2022 My what a lovely bunch of Tommy’s we have here! The community garden gratefully accepted this big box of flavorite tomato plants that are itching to get their roots into the ground at the garden A mix of truss and cherry varieties.... I can already smell the bountiful harvest these healthy plants will provide our bustling community

17.01.2022 ...and the Community Orchard is in!!! Thank you to Tys of @MurphysNursery - what a guy!! Tys really stands behind his product - his enthusiastic energy was wonderful - he was digging & shoveling and had lads who were heading to the skate park, picking herbs & silver beet for their dinner tonight! A bouquet of greens for their mums :) We look forward to Tys coming back to the garden soon.... we will be planting a selection of seedlings from Murphys Nursery at the regular meet up this Saturday 10-12noon Everyone welcome - come down & lend a hand & check out the Orchard! Together we added a little aged manure, a little compost, some mulch & staked the trees for support from the wind. Thank you Elaine & Charlie for helping to plant the trees. The rain came down just long enough to have a cuppa then the sun pushed through again. It got too dark for photos - will take a photo tomorrow. Thanks again Murphy's Nursery, Bunyip. 16.01.2022 Fantastic morning of pumpkin seed sharing! Thank you all for getting on board with this Fun & Educational Community initiative. Thank you to @Phillip McCauley for donating the pumpkin seeds. Thank you @Bunyip & District Community Bank Branch for your support in printing the Info sheets - 'How to Grow Giant Pumpkin's. The Community Bank Team will also be giving it a go & grow a giant pumpkin ... The last of the seed deliveries to be done tomorrow afternoon. Remember to share your progress & ask any questions on the event. We will be starting a newsletter to connect with others in the community not on Facebook, about the event & all things happening at the garden, if you would like to receive the newsletter via email or know someone who would enjoy being connected to the garden via a printed copy - please advise via Messenger an address. 12.01.2022 Does anyone have any of this Construction barracade fencing or similar, the Community garden can loan or to keep to re use. We would like to corden off the scaffolding area & storage areas. TIA

07.01.2022 It’s a beautiful day here playing mr McGregors garden with the kids, plenty of radishes to go around! We enjoy these sliced in our potato salad. Many with power outages today maybe you might like to try this and have a BBQ dinner? Happy picking folks

03.01.2022 Two new beds Thank you @LindaByrne for donating 2 metal garden beds They will be positioned across the front of garden with the beds donated by Leo ... Creating an easier to mow edge. As the garden crew do not all meet on the one day at present, the completing of the beds - cardboard to be laid, then soil, compost & manure will be completed over the next week or so - on days that a couple of us can get to the garden - face masks & social distancing continues at this time. If you would like to help get these beds up & growing, please comment below or PM us or me Meg An. If you are growing your own veg - that's wonderful, let us know how your garden is doing. We will finish letterbox drop offs by Sunday evening to those who weren’t able to collect from the garden today (be sure you pmd is your address for this service). If by Sunday you havnt received your seeds- please get in contact with us, as a small team of volunteers with over 60 entries/households we might have missed an address or two Please be sure to click going to the event listed in comments below and post updates on... your patch, show us your future pumpkin plots, the more posts on the group the more fun to be shared Happy growing!!
