17.01.2022 Garnduwa gave a hand at the North West Championships hosted by Broome Little Athletics Centre and Athletics West in Broome over the weekend. Athletes came from all over the Kimberley including Kununurra and Derby. Great to see so many local service providers lending a helping hand, making sure kids were hydrated & the event ran smoothly. Great competition from kids right across the North West!

16.01.2022 In partnership with Save the Children in Kununurra, we ran a 3x3 carnival for school holiday program. We had 7 boys and girls teams competing. It's awesome to see so many kids getting active during the holidays! Well done to the "OKC" team for taking out the comp!

15.01.2022 Last week Garnduwa hosted Dr Tracy Westerman alongside our partners in Broome for a two day workshop coinciding with our annual end of year staff development week. Dr Westerman is a Nyamal woman from the Pilbara region who is recognised as a world leader in Aboriginal mental health, cultural competency and suicide prevention. Participants attended a two day workshop in "Suicide Prevention in Aboriginal Communities" giving insight to mental health and strategies to support. G...arnduwa feel very privileged to give this opportunity of learning to our staff and our community partners as we continue to make differences in our communities in our respected fields. 10.01.2022 Wow what a fantastic weekend at the Central Kimberley Football League 2020 Bunjiman Carnival in Fitzroy Crossing! From Friday - Sunday this weekend we had four men and women's teams compete from across the Central Kimberley including Jimbakudanj Lightning, WKJD Tigers, Muludja Lionesses', Bayulu Bulldogs, Moongardie Suns, 8 Mile Giants, Loanbun Tigers and the Wangkatjungka Crows. Garnduwa staff travelled from Broome, Derby, Halls Creek & Kununurra to support the event, bring...ing NGA Champion Roger Hayden and AFLW star Roxy Roux from the Fremantle Dockers. We were also lucky enough to have Krstel Petrevski from the Melbourne Football Club on board as a role model, umpire and all round legend. Thank you to Geoff and Marmingee from the CKFL for all the work you do to support football for communities in the Central Kimberley, and to Eamon Rice from the WAFC for pulling it off. Finally, thanks as always to our umpires!

08.01.2022 Last week Garnduwa staff from across the Kimberley came together in Broome for a week long staff workshop. Thanks to our Training and Development Coordinator Amanda, the team were split into 5 groups for an Amazing Race around Broome. Thanks to local organisations Yawuru, Sportspower Broome & Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre for helping us out, it was deadly. Shoutout to team 'Run Amok Mob' for taking out the title! It was a great opportunity for us all to practise our communication, teamwork and leadership skills to cap off the year and have some fun before we get back into it in 2021!
