Keno Is the owner of CAFE HERNANDEZ in Kings Cross, which until last year was a 24/7 joint, that now closes much sooner. it’s been operating since the 70’s ... roasting and serving their own blends on site. a wonderous sinkhole for anyone roaming about at night - cab drivers, students, paramedics, police, prostitutes, outsiders and damaged souls alike, with the patina of long years imbued into its walls, broken piano and fixtures, as well as the salon hun...g oil paintings by his late mum. must confess to much personal arrival having taken place there [in the wee hours mostly] ... and dare say that i’m far from being Robinson Crusoe on that score. well, Keno has purchased two copies of the book, one for himself and one for the Cafe for patrons to flick through. the last decision had been enticed by Alessio Cavallaro’s mention of the Cafe in his writing, as the place of our first meeting just prior to Xmas 2015. if memory serves correctly when we left and made our way up the street, it was Mark McClelland [another of the would be contributors to the book] who crossed our path with a huge bowl of salad under his arm. a gem of a place, you won’t regret having been ...
